The roads are still there
Lined with black oak
Mere ruts in some places
That bounced you from
Your side to mine
Until thighs touched
Adding to the heat
From hours of wandering
Conversations on everything
From meta to physical

Hardscrabble country
Filled with rocky ledge
Stunted grass offers no soft bed
For streams or bodies
Wishing to stretch in languored
Spring lust on lushness
Still there are small places
Where the earth forgives
In small measure the struggles
And hides from the cycloptic sun’s
Staring pry of mankind

We embraced such places
Adding our essence to each other
In awkward posings that left bruises
To be laughed and lied about if someone noticed
All the while planning times to find
Other roads with private copse fitted
For such private times

Yes, the roads are still there
And the memories still bounce on
Rough cut rutted trails
But we got lost
In the hardscrabble
Of living

Ron

I'm glad the roads are still there...around here they might have become a parking lot.  This was a touching nostalgic ride into memory, wrapped up with nature and a touch of sensual ribbon.  Well done!
