I thought I could get past this
It's been over a year since we've been through
but every day is another reminder
that I'm not over you

I see your face in every woman's smile
Your memory follows me around
I see glimpses of you in the eyes of strangers
I hear your voice in every sound

Every love song makes me think of you
and I smile when I get caught in the rain
but then my tears mix with the raindrops
because I'm missing your touch again

My pen has tried to forget you
but you remain my beautiful muse
My words are trying to remember
a love I thought I'd never lose

I'm not foolish enough to ask you back
I know our time has passed
and I haven't forgotten the reasons
our relationship didn't last

But I'm still faced with the problem
I'm still wondering what to do
How am I supposed to move on
when I'm still not over you?

I've tried talking to other people
and I still play the flirting game
but my heart just isn't in it
The feelings aren't the same

I've even taken a lover
to quench my hungry desire
but afterwards I feel empty
Without your spark there is no fire

I still talk of love and passion
and I still long for romance
but without you as my partner
my life is a lonely dance

I'm not mired in depression
My life has not come to an end
so there's no need to worry
I have my health, my job, and my friends

The only thing missing is my heart
You're the one I gave it to
It's love is yours forever
because I'll never be over you

Wow i know how you feel and you expressed it in such a wonderful way... dont worry someone will come along and make you forget her... al least I tell myself that someone out there can make you forget about the past its hard but I am sure you can do it..

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Jeff, this is so very sad, my heart goes out to you and though I can't relate to this kind of feeling, for I have never met anyone face-to-face in love, I know how you feel and I pray that either she may return to you or you will be welcomed by a new love that you will want to be with you forever soon! (sigh) My thought sare with you, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Jeff, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

butterflykiss989,
I tell myself that too but it's hard to imagine finding someone who will love me the way she did. She's one in a million
Thanks for the compliment.

James,
I don't think it's a matter of "letting go" as I know her and I are through and I'm not pining away for her. I just haven't found anyone who measures up to her and as a a result, I find it hard to escape her memory.

Rose,
I commented on your poem; you're right, we are definitely "in the same boat" . Despite it's sad tone, I'm glad this poem struck home with you. Thank you for your kind words and good luck to you as well

Noah,
Thank you very much; I can always count on you for words of encouragement and lots of smilies and hugs (lol) Thanks for reading.

Dee,
I don't want her memories to fade; I just want to learn how to get past them. Thank you for your compliment.

I don't know that we ever "get past them" Jeff. . . perhaps, we just put them away in that place in our minds where memories stay. . .

great work. . .

I hate to be anti-love here, but you're never going to be complete if you don't have your heart. Hearts are only good if they are wanted...obviously she doesn't want it. So take it back so you can give it to someone who deserves it.

Sven,
Thank you, my friend   I've found that just when I think my mind has put her away in the special place you spoke of, someone creeps up into that secret attic room and takes her out again (lol)

passing shadows,
I don't think I can be that...hmmm... bitter? I dont think it's a matter of whether or not she wanted my heart as much as it's a matter of whether or not she ever believed it was truly hers. That probably doesn't make much sense but in order to explain it further, I'd have to go into a great deal of personal detail.
I'm not refusing to give my heart to another... refusing to try... I just haven't found anyone that compares to her.

Enchantress,
Thank you for reading and for your kind words. I have "bad days" every now and then , but overall I am past the "pain"; its those dang memories! They sneak up on you when ya' ain't lookin'! (lol)

Jeff ,
If at first you don't succeed , then try ~try again!!!  Yes, I know that might sound harsh , not meant to be.,  You know I Love You, and only want for you, what YOU want for you !!
But if you and "T" are meant to be, it will come back to you someday !! que cera, cera ?? whatever will be will be... you know I believe in destiny/fate , reason for all things to have happened.
If "T" is not THE ONE, the right one will be along soon, stop pushing it, stop looking for it, and just "Let it Be" .... cause I promise, "There will be an answer..." and probably not the one you expected... but FREE yourself , so you will be available and free , next time around !
