HIS gift
A mothers view

He looked at me with pain drenched eyes
How it stung to hear his agonised sighs
No mother should see her son tortured so
Nor see blood well then over flow
His body marked so battered and bruised
Those lies they shouted the words they used
Taunting with words of ridicule
Deriding him as some misguided fool

I’d carried him under my heart, given birth
Destiny’s child the saviour of earth
I watched them all filled with hate
Waiting until death open wide its gate
Hardly believing what I saw was true
Knowing he was doing all this for you
People jeering and mocking him
Those souls black and sick with sin

He told me he’d rise again very soon
But I might as well cry for the moon
My beautiful son lying cold and dead
He’d not return no matter what he said
They put him in a tomb laid him there
Why did he have to die it was so unfair
A week ago they’d welcomed him in
Shouting hosanna long live the king

I walked in the garden needed its peace
Hoping my tears would ease or cease
I felt there was a black hole in my heart
Or my soul had been ripped wide apart
A man said tell me why do you weep
I said death has my son in its keep
He’s not dead mother please look it’s me
Then I saw my son, the man of destiny

My son is arisen he’s broken death’s chain
Nothing will ever be the same again
Sin can’t claim you he’s set you all free
His divine blood bought you liberty
Rejoice in the Lord sing out his name
Bathe your soul in redemption’s flame
This is the gift that HE brings for you
The gift of salvation and eternal life too

Marsha

I'm so moved by the Easter story ... and yes, when a mother's heart breaks, it moves me to tears~

Very tenderly penned, my friend~

Marsha,
a mother's love a saviour's gift. What better way to celebrate Easter. I loved it.
