Senior Moment

Oh my goodness, where did I put my keys?
I've looked everywhere
high and low
searched the floor on my knees

I leave the mall, but can't find my car
just where did I park it?
it has to be somewhere
and can't be that far

my camera, I've lost it several times
I've always retrieved it
but is this a sign
or is there just too much on my mind

but all isn't lost
I can still recognize
that face in the mirror
in the grandma disguise

she looks like an older version of me
a few wrinkles
some grey hair
when did this come to be?

am I really this old
is my hair really grey?
am I seeing the future
or is this today?

yes its me, only older
the futures' here now
though I still feel like thirty
the years passed somehow

I shouldn't complain
the years have been kind
it could've been worse
could've run out of time

and those brief senior moments
I'll not let them stress
they've always been with me
to that, I'll confess

You're what, 23?  C'mon, give me a break, I should have written this, not you!

Big smiles here!

yep, I’ll attest to that. I get them all the time, and I’m not yet forty. I hate to think what I’ll be like in another twenty years!! Cute write Lyra.

Thanks Tracey...its comforting to know that one doesn't have to be over forty to have senior moments.....but of course, I already knew that because I've been having them since my teens.....

Cute thing you certainly don't look anywhere near old enough to be having 'senior moments.' Just you wait!!

Marti...thanks for your reply...and for the nice compliment.  I am actually quite a bit older than I look.
Since starting chemo, my hair has turned almost completely silver...but, oh well...at least I have hair which is more than most chemo patients have.
My face looks the same but it is now framed with hair of silver instead of dark brown.

Lyra~
You really should remember to return my mirror, dearie~
That's ME you're looking at~

Delightfully written, Grandma~

Grandma's-R-Us
Though we're a senior crew
The did us up in silver
so our reflections would shine anew~

Mostly young at heart
as we're inclined to be ...
who cares that the mirror makes us look
every bit of our thirty-three ! !

At least we know this much is true
'the eyes are NOT the first thing to go'
Throw that mirror in the trash ! !
That's what I'd do !

Love n' hugs~

Thanks so much for your reply, Lauren...
I don't feel old, and I don't feel like a senior citizen just yet...and I have actually been having those senior moments since I was quite young...I have always had trouble finding my car in a big parking lot, and I have a history of losing keys...
In fact when David moved in with me...I gave him the keys to my house on a keychain which said "keys I haven't lost yet".
Take care....   ~lots of hugs~

ROFL, Marge....Hey, thats MY mirror....
It can't be yours because its stuck to my bathroom wall....
so thats really me that I am seeing.
Actually, I look pretty much the same as my photo...but chemo has turned my hair silver...
At least I have HAIR though!  I don't really care what color it is...besides many people have told me that they like it this way...
I'm not sposed to color it now...so I guess it has to stay this color...I hope at least that it STAYS on my head....
seriously...I love being a grandma...and I know that you do too!

Thanks so much for that sweet reply, kiddo!
