Authors Note

***For those of you who may not know, i have
my degree in social work and am currently
working in a group home serving children who
have no parents or whose parents are unable
or unfit to care for them. the kids i work with
have become a part of my heart and soul...their
spirits and souls are truly a blessing. this is
just my small tribute and dedication to all my
"boys". Love them all very much!

I know you sometimes don't agree with me
You think I'm harsh and probably mean
Always asking you to follow so many rules
I know I'm a nag or so it may seem

You all have been through so much
I see the pain clearly in your eyes
As I say your prayers with you every evening
Better days I wish for you all, turning my eyes to the heavenly skies

My heart breaks with yours with every dissapointment you face
My souls soars with every blessing that may grace your day
Though you may think of me as just this person in your life
Your charming personalities have found a way in my heart, there they will stay

You may not know but I can relate to you so much
Once I was lost and scared just like you
I wished for a normal happier life
I got mine, I hope you all do too

I don't want to tell you how I care for you
For I know there are many that you don't trust and I know why
But if only you knew that I see you all as angels
Yes even when you try my patience and I let out a weary sigh

I guess you could say you all have found a way into my heart
Though you act like tough boys, I think I know the real truth of you all
Don't worry I won't be like the others in your life, I won't leave
I'll be there to catch your fall

I know it will take time for you all to believe in me
Day in and day out though, I will show you compassion and love
I will restore your faith in those around you
Rejuvinate your faith in our Lord above

I see the tears you do not cry
I see the smile that you sometimes try to hide
My heart does flips for joy when you do well
Oh how it swells with such pride

Yes I cry your tears and I feel your pain
But for now I'll just be your silent friend
Wishing and praying in time with a little love and caring
Your broken hearts I may help to mend

"you can't stop
the rain
from pouring down
can't stop the
world from turning 'round
can't stop me from
loving you
no matter
what you do

Amy,

This is so wonderful I'm relieved to know that the children have you in their lives. You are such a kind person.  I could never do this, I don't think my emotional track could handle it.  Thank God for people like you.

I loved it!  I know this feeling well Amy, "I know the tears you do not cry" and if they only knew how visible the hurt, anger, and frustration was.  There is nothing more honorable than making a difference in another human being's life and it looks like "you" are making a difference.  Great job on this poem and good luck with your work, it is demanding but rewarding.

Amy this is a most wonderful poem. and what a difficult but fulfilling job that is. I would take all those problems home with me at night so I know it must be hard. You sound like a loving person and they are lucky to have you, and this is a tremendous poem. floria

A great poem Amy. How hard it must be too see the suffering they go through, and how wonderful when things go right for them. I’d imagine it must be a very challenging job, but with great rewards too. Thank god there are people like you who care about them.

Wonderful, what you do! Above all, I'm so glad to hear that you pray with them. In such an imperfect world, faith in God is the only secure thing they can never lose. And the only hope for eternity.

Amy--This was very good.  I sure wish I had someone like you around when I was in those group homes.  The ones I was in-----well,  there certainly wasn't anyone like you around.  It's good to know that someone in a position such as yours does care...believe it or not, a lot of them don't and they have no problem telling you that.  I had one worker in the home tell me that it wasn't in her job description to care. So---it's good to know that there are some that do.

Aimster, you have a huge, kind heart for these boys and they will look back someday and see you as the only who truly cared through their hard times. They are young, but hearts don't forget. You wait and see. Great write!

Amy, I really felt this one deep in my heart. I understand this on a very personal level, having worked in a residential group home many years ago. It's a tough job on the best of days, but when you touch a child in need and they respond favorably, all the minutes and hours of intense hard work and frustration melt away into one big smile and heart hug.

Lisann,

That is so sad, I'm so sorry that you
didn't have someone loving and caring
while you were at a group home. That is
such a shame. I hope that things turned
out okay for you though. As for me, well
I do what I can...it's easy to love
children, I can't imagine being a person
who doesnt. Thank you for your warm reply.

Thank you sweets for your kind and
encouraging reply. You give me hope.
Sometimes my job is very hard, because
they have been so hurt that they don't
want to let anyone in, and just when I
think I'm getting somewhere with them,
they shut back down again...but I do
understand their reasons why. thank you
hon for your beautiful reply.

Midnite,
Yes it does seem you know what it's

Thank you for your kind words. take care.

make me smile. Thank you dear! God bless.

Gosh even my baby replied! Thank you so
much sweetie...I know you're very busy
with work and school so the fact you took
time to read and write to this is so very
touching! I'll see you soon. I love you!
