You were an incredibly gentle man.
You fought for justice and equality
but you fought
without weapons.
You sacrificed so much and sought
a better life for those who knew not
how to fight nonviolently.
Yes, today I honor you,
Cesar.
And those who followed your footseps,
who chose to persue equality
nonviolently.
The whole world still needs
more Cesars,
like you.
The gentle pride and love
you displayed
underneath the banners
of the proud Aztec Eagle on
red and black,
shall not be forgotten.
Hail Cesar.

Today, is the anniversary of the death of United Farm Workers Union founder and leader, Cesar Chavez. He died near Yuma, AZ on March 23, 1993.

(big hugggsssssss) BRAVO!!! This is a very touching tribute to a wonderful person, sweet friend, I too recognize his name and I too praise him for all the non-violent progress he made in his contributions to America and the world, and I too wish there could be more leaders like him! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is excellent! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Lauren, thank you for reading and replying. He really was a very special, gentle soul.
Mr Young, I thank you for your comment.
I consider myself fortunate to have met him while he was actively organizing farmworkers in California. He was gentle, soft spoken, but determined to speak out for basic rights. To me, he was more than a just farm worker's rights fighter. He was a hero who believed in the rights of all humans, and a man of great dignity. In other words, Cesar Chavez was, still is, and will always be a hero in my eyes. I do not want his gentle but brave, courageous deeds to be forgotten,
