      ~   Nana and I   ~

I stood on the edge of a drowning pond
the glint of olive stinging my intentions
Visions of dancing fish walking on silty bottom
pinned the earth to my sleeve,
    a global mobile, predestined destiny
posed like David in front of stillborn water
     Wishes were born that day
I was 6, and the pebble still rippled on glass
Praise the Lord and kiss the sunflower
     My grandmother took my hand
We pressed our ears to the trembling iron
         of a traffic switch
         heard magical colors of
      green, yellow and red
     change

    Love and smiles
they come easy when you are an angel
All children are cherubs waiting for heaven's kiss
         I think my grandmother
               was an angel,

                                   too

Jeff darling boy I suppose you think that I’m going to praise you to the skies? Hmmm? …….. Well, of course I am, this is utterly utterly wonderful, as YOU very well know.

This is exceptional writing, certainly I’ve come to expect the very best from you, creatively and in language form. This is a real beauty, and absolutely wonderful first class piece. YOU do know I LOVE this don’t you? Good it is splendiferous

oh....this hurts to say, Noah, but she passed when i was 15.
I could never EVER put into words the many many occasions that
are indelibly stamped on my life from her.  Still, to this day, she
is a wonderful mentor to me.  Missing her....sigh.....every day since
she was taken to Heaven.   But happy that we got to spend so much
time together, Noah.  It's a happy kind of ache, do you know what i mean?
Thankx Buddy for the reply.  I feel your warm hand on my shoulder
as i write this.

To the great bunch of poets who replied:
My grandmother, Nana, was and is a constant reminder of how the
world should be treated.  She never asked others for herself, but
found that giving was life's greatest rewards.

Perhaps after reading this, we can all go out, hug tightly our
own Nana's, and tell them they mean the world to us.
Thankx, Y'all!
Jeff
