Bleak

The chill has returned,
hopelessness setting in,
as I sit and feel the ache
inside my chest
competing for every breath.
Must be me,
warring within, not wishing
to surrender to this chapter
in my life.
How can it be,
how much can one bear?
Aren't the measure of one's deeds
worthy of some relief?

Solutions, time,
why must I sustain this weight,
such heaviness
burdening my soul,
seizing and detaining me from a life,
one I once awakened to,
stretching my arms,
opening to its warmth of wonder.

I maintain my sanity,
but for how long?
How much longer can life
be choked out of me
before I weaken and these feelings
can no longer reach my fingertips
and touch you.
How much time before these lips
can no longer whisper,
or kiss you, as they had once before?

How fitting my name,
as naked now,
my thoughts have become,
unadorned am I, as the Winter chill
has returned and taken away my warmth.
M

Maureen, this is your best. I feel what you are feeling, and this last verse is truly awesome. BRAVO. GREAT WORK.  floria

(big hugggsssssss) This is so very sad but wonderfully expressed, sweet friend, I hope now the winters chill has died away and now the beautry of springs sunshine flourishes in your heart is everything is anything but bleak now! (kiss on cheek) I think we can all relate to these feelings of desolation sometimes, sweet friend, this is powerful, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Maureen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
