Human Nature (...I  suppose)

I've handled my affairs with kitchen mitts
been burned by wiping tears
and picking up hot objects with them

I've said goodbyes when hello's were in order
or at least:"I am sorry for being such a fool"

I've whistled with the wind
cursed at feasts placed at my feet
starved when I was well fed

I've offered help when the simple rule:
Give to others when you yourself would ask for help
and have been chastised for not giving enough

I've made my share of mistakes
but stayed on the bronco longer than most

But when your eyes evaluate me
with devil-squints
you won't remember
the 1000's of good things I have done well

but will choose to remember
the three
that I did not

Not me~~~
I will remember both!!

I've made my share of mistakes
but stayed on the bronco longer than most!

I like the double meaning, there is certainly something to be said for that.

Jeff darling boy you are a poet extrdinaire, your writing simply awes me with it’s skill and depth. I’m not a writer, I have little skill and even less ability, but I do get to read the best poets there are here. And you are among them darling boy. And if it needed proving you have written an absolutely beautiful example yet again.

you won't remember
the 1000's of good things I have done well

but will choose to remember
the three
that I did not

this really is such astounding writing, very well done

...and the grass is greener...over there
...and I am seen still, like thoughts in gilt hair...

BRAVO!!! Yes, yes, we will always meet those that will dislike what we feel and not allow them to help them, but as long as we trust and believe in ourselves and always fight to stay aboard the bronco, we are all bound to find greener pastures of hope! (big hugggssssss) This is marvelous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Jeff, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I really enjoyed this feast of a poem, Jeff...and I'm really glad that you're staying on top of that bronco and not on top of the bull!

Yes, this human nature.  But for too many, all they want to see is the bad.  Good attitude and good poem.  Enjoyed this.

I was sooooo caught up in the Basketball championship i neglected these responses,
and that's unforgiveable.  I did want to say a sincere thank you for you wonderful
people taking time, feeling the moment with me.

This poem was all about the wrong way to be, in my humble opinion.
While it mainly applied to those i work with, it also was just a word of advice
to those who criticize others, without a mirror handy.  *s*
In no way, was it intended to reflect anyone i actually know.  shooot...no way!
Just a statement
of human nature....ugly as it can be at times.

Thankx Y'all!  Sincerely!
Jeff
