His head was down
as if concentrating on the pooled rain
which had stopped some time ago,
but still
he contemplated the sound of hot wet cement
and the smell of thunder touched him.

I could see that he was lost
somewhere inside his road
and I wanted to touch the sleeve
that held his heart,

but I knew enough to know
he would run,
run fast

away from my sudden heat
and a slice of empathy.

(big hugggssssss) Oh Martie, I can feel a tinge of sadness in these words, I hope that soon he can have the heart to trust you and his loved ones and he can let you help him and whatever pain his heart bears deep, for I know you can help him so very much, for your loving heart always shines with the warmth of sympathy and empathy! (kiss on cheek) This is wonderfully bittersweet, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

so instead you let us touch and then be touched by your "sleeved heart"

Of all the things in me I could never be,
of the true I kept hidden from view,
the best parts of my heart ...
were the ones touched by you.

I see Martie strikes again... usual flair with image and word... laced with the heart we all know Martie has.

Nice work my friend

My instand picture was that of a small male orphan....this transported me directly back to the 30's, NYC....and I don't know why...but so glad it did...

This is very good, you've captured him exactly.  I don't mind saying I know the other end of this.  This is very good.

Martie your writings so unique it makes different people feel different things, for some reason I though of 9-11 and of a fireman sitting on the ground, beat, depressed, looking at a rain puddle. great write. floria

I well know the emotions and yearning of which you speak, my fiend, and...empathize.

Martie....I do so love the way you write
poetry....such ease to see the painting you
paint for us...
