She smiled,
And answered in her Sunday voice
The one she trotted out from childhood
Spent in south Tennessee whenever she wanted
To take the serrations off what she had to say.

I watched her
Without an interest other than
The way she filled out the cotton blouse
And the curve of her thigh when legs crossed
and the skirt rode just high enough to promise
without promising

“Seems your lost.”
Was what I heard her say
And after thinking about it for a second longer
Than was polite
I had to agree.

seems you were busted huh Capt  lol
love the "promise with out promising" line.
and hey....food for thought...
I miss Iambe

Of all the things in me I could never be,
of the true I kept hidden from view,
the best parts of my heart ...
were the ones touched by you.

Ron

You make the scene come to life, then touch a sadness that hurts.  Very good and very human.  You write well, my friend!

(sigh) Wow!!! This is a wonderfully bittersweet poem, sweet friend, I think we all have these feelings every now and then where we are spaced out and need to be reminded of how special we are when we finally realize where we are! (big hugggssssss) This is excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ron, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Doesn’t sound like a bad place to be lost Ron. Love that middle stanza

I watched her
Without an interest other than
The way she filled out the cotton blouse
And the curve of her thigh when legs crossed
and the skirt rode just high enough to promise
without promising

Without an interest huh??? Lol

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Some women I have met...only by observing them from the porch...
Just find women in general to be fascinating studies in character... like men they come on all shapes, colors, sizes, and of all possible combinations of personality. Unlike men... they hold something ethereal in their souls...we as poor dogs on the porch..won't ever understand
