Soft pink velvet ribbon
in her fine hair dark and sweet;
tiny patent leather shoes
on dimpled little feet.

Such a dress, all ruffles,
finest lace is everywhere;
see her cheeks so dear and smooth,
dark lashes curling there.

Lips like rounded cherries,
and her hands like starfish small;
precious is this baby girl,
we love her, one and all!

She’s an infant princess
come to charm our hearts for years;
but she’s tucked into a satin box
and everyone’s in tears.

Leora was my best friend's baby girl.
It was one of the saddest funerals
I ever attended. Such a beautiful baby.
The next year, this wonderful friend
came to my own little Travis' funeral.
No one should have to live through this.
Only our faith in our loving Heavenly Father
got us through it.
