Between the Lines
By Larry Chadwick

If subtly were my style,

I love you
Would you read between the lines?
I love you
Catching what I tried to say,
I love you
Or would you miss the signs?

Dare I take that chance,
I love you
And risk that you won’t know?
I love you
Or maybe it would take too long,
I love you
And you would learn too slow.

Should I be direct,
I love you
And say just what I mean?
I love you
Or is discretion better,
I love you
Should I keep my message lean?

How brave am I,
I love you
To trust you with my heart?
I love you
Please don’t think I’m coy,
I love you
Though I felt it from the start.

I can’t take the chance,
I love you
I’m not that strong.
I love you
So here it goes,
I love you
Let's hope that I’m not wrong.

Well, since I love you too my sweet friend, I guess I've learned to read between those lines.

Kacy,
Boy what a relief! I was afraid you wouldn't get the message. But it's never too late. Right?

Kacy,
You know some really awesome poetry has been written in that nodding mode. But I'll be hanged if I'll ever confess!

Most of my stuff was written by the dream writer, not the typewriter. Does this count as a confession?  I never confess. And of course, I didn't do it. Not ever. Never confess even when they catch you, that's what my cousin said.

Kacy,
Never confess is on the theory that you should never allow reality to interfere with life. ROTFL So I assume that's your story and you're sticking to it!

Of course. Meanwhile, if you want to stay up all night, I posted my first prose piece her at Pips tonight, a rather long one about climbing Mount Masada. I will understand if you don't get to it tonight. After all, older men need to go to bed early and get their beauty sleep.

BRAVO!!! Ooohhhhhhh...I just love how you say the most significant part of your sentiments between the lines in this fabulous poem, sweet friend, I feel those messages between the lines can always explain true sentiments simply! (big hugggsssss) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Larry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Most of my reading is between the lines.

Notice I didn't say between the sheets?

Well...you know me, I had to show her this. Although, I must confess I wrote my Christmas present poem to her in November and posted it and she didn't see until 12-25! Even I was impressed. LOL Thanks.
