Only Me

A woman I in autumn years of life.
I worry not of outer looks so vain.
A loving mother, grandmother and wife.
To look at me you would say I am plain.
And yet I tell you look into my soul.
For that is where my treasure truly lies.
That is the place where I have been made whole.
You cannot view my soul with just your eyes.
This is the spot where all my dreams start out.
Where all my wondrous hopes and goals were born.
And in this secret part I hold no doubt.
Here I keep roses only not the thorn.
And this is where I keep the one true me.
The place where love and courage flow so free.

An absolutely perfect sonnet, lady! This is a wonderful creation on such an excellent topic....the heart is indeed where one's beauty truly resides...and you are beautiful

Passions has a rule against posting someone else's picture as your own so, since you state that looking at you one could consider you plain, tells me that you must have posted someone else's pic instead of your own. Take that pretty lady's picture down immediately or face the consequences!!!!

but I don't know what you are talking about....calling yourself plain.
From the looks of your photo...you are anything but plain.

Jeff thank you so much, this actually was done as an assignment in a writing class and we were to write a poem, any style, about ourselves. I chose sonnet, and oh boy, it is hard to write about yourself, so I just went with truth, This is how I feel about me, thank you much. floria

This is a lovely sonnet. And I agree with Balladeer, you are much too pretty to call yourself plain. I see the beauty inside as well. It shows all over your beautiful words.

I really liked this sonnet.

I've only written one sonnet in my life, (long life, I might add) and Sunshine helped me with that one.

Loved the form and content of your poem. You write the truth of yourself beautifully.
