It's National Spam Week in Britain!
Yes! I heard it on the news!
The whole country has been smitten
By that meat one can't refuse!
Though you may think it's silly
They just don't give a damn.
From Soho to Picadilly
The Brits are saluting  Spam!!

It's National Spam Week in Britain!
What a glorious event!!
An honor most certainly fittin'
For the food that's heaven-sent.
Queen Mum is there eating it sittin'
Upon her royal throne.
It's National Spam Week in Britain
It must be the Twilight Zone!

It was  all Monty Python, you see, my friends
Whose Circus created this zoo
And why - you may ask? Well, it all depends
On who you're listening to.
Although the idea may make you stagger
And cause minds to crumble with stress
From a country that gave us both Twiggy and Jagger
Would you be expecting less?

It's National Spam Week in Britain!
Brits are digging in deep for their pence.
Many puppies and kittens are missin'
But I'm sure it's coincidence.
This week of the year will be written
As the Empire's most glorious hour.
It's National Spam Week in Britain!!
Take a big bite and  FEEL THE POWER!!!!!

Certainly you cannot be serious Michael!
You are!  I don't think I could swallow that stuff....
well, maybe with a jar of mustard on it and a great prize awaiting me.
Good stuff....you are too much!  Hugs.

When I was in Hawaii, our tour bus driver that took us to the Pearl Harbor Memorial said that Spam was so well loved there, they buy it by the case!! It's an international treat I think. Though I like it fried, I prefer it on Rye with mustard.

LMBO, as this was very funny but I said it before and I will say it again, I would have to be starving before I would eat that stuff!  Starving!  You tell a mean Spam tale though Michael, that's for sure.

’Deer dearest heart, You have had me in stitches tonight thank you so very muchly. This is wonderful, and you knew I had to reply didn’t you

It’s National Spam week in Britain?
I heard according to dear ‘Deer
Funny I haven’t seen it written
The poster has yet to appear
National Spam week you tell me
Are you positively sure?
You’re not trying to trick me
So I’ll buy up half the store

A whole week of Spam delightful
You’re trying it on my friend
You just want to get an eyeful
When over the Spam I bend
Did someone say they saw me?
With my knife and fork
Munching on it gleefully
Wolfing down my pam and chalk

A National week of British Spam
No I don’t believe it’s so
You want my little bit of ham
Just hang on half a mo
There’s never is such a feast
Spread before my eyes
Get off home you greedy beast
Or you’ll get a slap surprise

Marsha

For anyone who doesn’t know in Britain we refer to Spam as chopped pam and chalk, Cockney Rhyming slang has a lot to answer for

Thank you for the smiles dear ‘Deer I truly did need the giggles here tonight

Love and warm stuff
As always

For those of you questioning it or those of you who live there and are oblivious to it (mushy), this is from today's Reuters...

LONDON (Reuters) - Monty Python immortalised it, the Soviet Union went to war on it and fish can't resist it -- Spam, the processed ham and pork luncheon meat that started life in America and was wolfed down by war-time Britons, is 65 years old this year and has no plans to retire gracefully.

For Spam-lovers, this is national Spam week, a chance to celebrate flabby pink memories of meals past and find modern converts to an old pantry standby.

"We're trying to take it to a new audience," said Vicki McDonald, head of Britain's 2,000-strong Spam fan club.

Retro-themed "Spam Glam nights" at universities tap into nostalgia for school dinners of old.

As McDonald says: "There's a certain amount of Spam nostalgia out there."

Marguerite Patten, a TV chef of the 1940s, told Reuters that Spam fritters in her cookery demonstrations at London's Imperial War Museum still produced gasps of "Ooh -- my favourite!"

’Deer hi there this is sooooooooo funny, I really love this. I know you are a comedian I’ve read some very funny ones before in the archives. This is truly wonderful, had me laughing myself into tears. I like Spam, mum makes a dish called Lumberjack pie, which is wonderful. yes it is named because of Monty Python’s song I’m A Lumberjack

This still has me giggling, and mum is crestfallen she missed the day, she’s even now preparing me a Lumberjack pie to take home with me tonight. THANK YOU for the laughs

Deer,
we are indeed from the lucky country...for we have experienced the delights of Turkey Spam...It tastes a little like boiled koala.

ROFL on the images you paint and the the image of Krissy and Marsha having apoplexy.

Being English by birth and inclination I feel the need to defend so...

It's National  Spam week in Britain
I see you heard the news
and all the POMS in their restraint
are beaming in their shoes

It's Spam week in Britain
the forecast is for  rain
to celebrate the springtime
Spam week comes round again.

just because it's Spam week
don't set your hopes to high
for all the English gentlemen
will probably pass it by

they know of Yankee products
a like they may disdain
Spam edicts from her majesty
I've heard them all complain

so it's Spam week in  Britain
I shout hip-hip hurrah
but remember Britain's also
the home of the wonder bra.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
