I've run the gamut
through a range of emotions
stumbling over hurdles,
jumping through hoops,
one after another.

Down the home stretch
lies an elusive line,
tempting me to cross.
Yes, I am frustrated
after giving it my all.

Praying for the strength to endure
challenged by a battle of wills
that threatens to beat me.
Hard pressed, refusing to give up
that which I can't bare to lose.

Turning cartwheels
spitting words
I am the best and the worst
a poor excuse for a cheerleader;
somersaulting.

I've circled around and down
spiraling through a tunnel
flooded by my own sweat
and the taste of salty tears.

I am my own whistle blower
calling fouls, penalizing myself.
A glutton for punishment,
it's a tough call
if we reap what we sow who's to say?

On occasion
I've lost sight of my visions
and the reasons for being,
as though I am rolling around on a rim,
tapped into the very heart of me.

Questioning my commitment
surrounded by the after effects
pushing myself harder
preserving my perseverance.
If only I could swish like a sinker.

Knocked down
trained and untamed
worked over and left out,
but never losing sight of the prize
or the blue shades of ribbon
that I won and almost lost~

(oops~ there's my edit signature again)

Yeah, you go girl!!! Keep fighting, and keep your eye on that prize. With determination like this, it should be pretty close at hand I’d say. Cool rant on the battle of life.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Visions can sometimes become blurred by life's trial and tribulations, but as long as we never lose sight of the prize, the reward is ours for the taking...if we persevere! Very nice pep talk to self, wonderfully done!

Blue - I know the internal battle you speak of, and you described it perfectly in this write.  Especially the stanza about calling fouls on yourself.  I can totally relate to that.

I think if we got together we would make the worst cheerleading squad ever.  Our football team would quit before the end of the 1st quarter.lol   Also, I don't think I would look to good in a cheerleading outfit.lol

GenXer~ Thank you for understanding the internal battle.  Oh sheesh!

Corinne~ Thank you, I would probably surprise myself if I were to land just so!  Practice makes perfect...maybe someday!!
