Crooked arms waving
beckoning to me
as the March winds
whistle a familiar tune
of nature's renewal.
I approach hesitantly,
my hair whipping
in the breeze
like unattended ribbons
on a May pole.
The sharp call of a jay
catches me off guard.
Looking up, my face
is teased, tickled
by velvet, grey
kitten toes.
My sweater catches, snags
as I twirl and giggle
within it's paw-like grasp.
Ah yes! Revival!
Another winter endured
Another spring to celebrate
And I am but a human
ball of yarn
To the playful
pussy willow.

Chris, this is so pretty and springlike! Love the kitten toes!  That reminds me you must bring me some next time you come down.
Pussy willows....not kitten toes.  Boy we could all really use a touch of spring right now!  Enjoyed this one this afternoon.
Hugs and love ya, Teed.

Chris

We use pussywillow all the time in our flower shop..I loved the sweet spring cleverness of this to the likeness of a real kitty.

Thankyou Martie. My hubby and I did not know when we planted the tiny twig, you had to keep it trimmed if you only wanted a bush. So, now a few years later, we have a gorgeous pussy willow tree!! We love it.
