Dear Emily--Come in--
How nice this is--
I hoped that you would now--
Put down your Coat--
I see that you walked--
How tiny your hands seem--
Dear Emily, how are you, and the Rest--
Did you leave Amherst well--
Oh Emily, Come to my room with me--
I have very much to tell

I got your Book, and the Poems
The Brontes never knew you would be here--till I called
I declare--how Bright their Faces grew--
But Emily, forgive me--and
All those Words you left for me to Read--
There was no Voice suitable--
Save for yours Dear, indeed--

Who knocks? That Browning.
Lock my Heart--
I will not be swayed--
She stayed away a year to come
When I am now busy--
But details look so small
Whenever you are here

These words are just as dear as Yours
And Yours as mere as These

Note: Yes, this poem is based on Dear March--Come in-- by Emily Dickinson.

AD Hi there this utterly utterly spectacular. The flow the construction the rhythm all combine to make this a truly outstandingly fabulous poem. Rarely is writing this good, certainly this far exceeds my expectations and my expectations for you are always high. YOU are a very good writer and this proves it.

I do believe she would have appreciated this turn about of words being given back to her...what respect...what courtesy!

lovely Sven...a year or two ago, I looked up in search for a Walter Benton poem, a favorite poet of Wilfred Yeats (Bill) and I came across another poet who then became a correspondence friend on line...He too passed away..but here is an absolute favorite of mine from him and I thought you may enjoy it...and the idea behind it..*s
I shared with him my Lady Ollyne poems and the idea behind her and her Knight:
It's called Correspendence With Emily

I hope you enjoy it, put the sound on..the music is perfect for it.

thank you all my friends. . . this one came to me while I was reading Dear March. . . Emily's always been one of my favorites. . . isn't it interesting how, to some, her life is still a mystery, and yet, her words tell us all that we need to know about her. . .

Maureen, thank you so much for the link. . . I loved it. . .
