Purgatorial Incarceration

if I jumped off this bridge,
would you smile as I plunged
     -feetfirst-
into the murky shadows of self-preservation?

would you wait at the edge,
   indomitable,
like Artemis – arrow drawn toward
the distant head
of your favorite companion?

but maybe you can’t see me
     at the horizon,
smile cracking above the waves like
a pass of light from a shorebound tower

when you pull open your teeth to break
the fletch off a sliver of understanding
drowning it in the sodden doubts of
poisonous miscommunication.

fire

arrow’s away,
plying a course over
a cresting of good intentions.
swiftly, it pierces the winds of change
as if steadfastness could rip asunder
the waves of stability and passing time.
foam-charged, it
     screeches
through my mind, impaling
with the force of frustration –
one-hundred decibels plus of maddening precise
incoherence…

stepping back from the railing,
I look down at the roiling incandescence
of repeated attempts,
back away, and
         shake my head -
knowing you weren’t shooting for me,
but wondering just the same.

... ~very weak lol~ I have to say: this is fantastic... I didn't come to compliment... not yet, but, I must. Chris, this is amazing. (and for once, i know that opinion is wholly without bias)

Almost reminds me of the phrase "I wouldn't be paranoid if everybody didn't hate me."

I think that's an awesome last segment, good sir. I can relate...

No time to bite into any of this right now, much less digest it. Maybe later

friendly fire is just as deadly as any though isn't it?
