           ~ Memories Are Nick-Nacks ~

     they were fancies fulfilled forevermore
smile-giving blood, even now are adored
wholly realized, Creature of our making
handed back and forth - never for taking.

but days march to another's heart's beat
nights are havens where soul-twins meet
Hopes are desires that cannot be rusted
Memories are Nick-Nacks that need to be dusted.

Jeff darling boy this is simply outstanding writing, you have done so well here I don’t know how you do it. Again flawless and perfectly presented. What can I say but this is exceptional. YOU always write brilliantly and today is no exception.

Wonderful flow and rhythm, as you seem to always do you’ve literally hit the nail on the head. Wonderful writing

Love and warm stuff

I really like that nick-nack photo, and of course, the poem.

Brad:  That is extremely nice of you to reply and say that, Brad.  Thanks amigo!

Marsha/Mushy:  making me blush from my fuzzy little head to my hairy little toes.
(No, not a Hobbit).  Thought I would take a break from reality and write some
poetry.  Flow and rhythm are critical to me when I write.  Wish you could have
read some of my old rhyming poetry.  Thanks sweet Mushy.  Thanks so much!

Nan:  Hey, I have a confession:  the whole poem was written backwards,
from the last line that popped into my head.  Isn't it strange how poems write themselves?

Noah:  you said exactly what was on my mind.  Perfectly!  **smiles**
I sincerely believe that memories are what make us happy at times when
current events tend to erase smiles.  Thanks Buddy, for the reply!

Vic:  ~laughing~!  and don't ask me what I am doing home either!  Had a personal
day to use up….and wooooosh it was gone!  I purposely picked a picture of an
antique that looked like it would be a BEAR to dust!  ~huuggs~ back and
catch ya on the flip side~

Thanks Yu'uns, for the kind words! Now….go love on somebody!  *smiles*

Hi Midnite-Sun!  Que Pasa, Amiga?    Funny you should mention that:  I was looking
for something extremely difficult to dust, but had some mystery to it:  this is what it is:
Chinese ivory puzzle ball on a stand consisting of 3 horses. Puzzle
ball has 12 (YES, 12) balls inside according to the previous
owner. The ear of one horse is missing. The yellowing of the ivory
would indicate a 19th Century manufacture. The ball has a
diameter of 3" (7.5cm), the height of the stand is 6" (15cm) and
the two item together stand 8.75" high.
Pretty cool, huh?
Thanks MS!  jeff

awww...thanks for your sugarwords!
Not as detailed as my other writes, but
just as heartfelt....Hope you are doing fine,
and enjoyed sharing a smile with you!

Wow, Jeff, what a cool story about that photo. Have you ever been tempted to take it apart and put it back together again? I'd leave it as is...dusting it might be challenging enough! Thanks for the elaboration.

There is absolutely NO WAY I would want to dust that! *LOL* Hose it down maybe, but dust it?? Nah...*wg*

As always, you manage to create images from thin air and phrases to describe them...loved this sweetie!

'Memories are Nick-Nacks that need to be dusted.'

Greatly enjoyed the imagery in this piece~
I've dusted more than a few of those memories~

I enjoyed you poem..got me thinking:

I keep mine under the bed
in a box
at night to take out
in case I am tossed
by a dream that seems a bit unwise
the past has answers
I can't disguise.

Midnite Sun:  Fortunately, Luckily (is THAT a word), I don't have that item in my
possesion.  Got it from an anti-queue site.  But I thought it was a cool piece that I would love to own.  Hey:  if you are going to own some KnickKnack, it should have a story of some kind to it!

Dulcinea-Lamb:  Have no fear!  the closest you have to dusting it will be wiping the screen off when the JPEG of it is on it!  LOL.   I DOOOO kinda like the hosing it off idea, but my mind is in the gutter......again......~soft hug~

Nekkid-Musing:  Well Hi Maur!  Tell me that you are NOT that sick!  I hope not....dang girl!  Hey, for my allergies I take Nasanex and it kicks the crud out of...the well.....crud!   It's real good stuff.  I am honored and flattered at your reply, and thank
you for that sooo much.  You are a sweetie....bigtime!!!!!!!   *happy smiles*

Martie:  I love that mini-poem!  Shoe-box memories that you carefully dust off,
and relive.  *smiling*  That is exactly HOW i envisioned it being done!
That was very very kind of you writing that!  Thank you!!

Never stop making the memories
and they shall make you whole in return.
Thanks Y'All!!!!!!!  jeff

As intricate as memories are
this picture tied up the
sight and sound, the blood ties
of the ivory to life...

I think you said more in this
poem than even you first realized...

Sunshine:  I think in many ways you are right; but still...i am lacking in the single
most elusive poem I have NEVER written.  Here is the deal:
'Now' lasts only a fleeting millisecond
Tomorrow is not even here yet
The rest is our past:  the sum total of our lives.
The most important part of our
lives is our memories/past, and i can't find a way to say it poetically!   arrrrggg
if You can do it, feel free to use any/all the words above.  We are at our best:
a collection of good memories; some of which we ourselves have forgotten, but
we are remembered by them by others.  THAT is what i was i originally going to
say, but the poem took off on its own, and wrote what it wrote.  One of these days I am going to finish that ONE poem....sorry to be long winded, but it sticks in my craw that i can't finish it!  Know whut-I-mean?  *smiles*
That was the long version of :  Thank You Sunshine!  hehehe
Jeff   (ps.....vegging out on some NCAA...my brackets are fried!!!!!!! )

Was reading this backwards.
Either way it says a lot about
what's ours to keep forever and always.
No matter where and how the dust settles.
