A child’s life is full of so many things
during all of the years while they grow.
With a voice like when an angel sings,
the notes always high and seldom low.

They worry about the least of what
would normally be a part of our day.
They remember of that we could not
for that is the child’s very own way.

They keep toys in little piles
which are seldom where should be.
They ride their bikes for miles and miles
and oft times fall and skin an elbow or knee.

They routinely are told to brush their hair
or pick up the dirty clothes from the floor.
They do mischievous things a child would dare
and come up with at least one more.

They talk and babble a mile a minute or two
and sometimes make so little or no sense.
Leaving us sitting, wondering what to do
‘cause by then we feel so terribly dense.

Their faces always reflect their every mood
whether when they are hungry, hurt or sad
Sometimes sit, eating little bits of food
‘specially during times when they are not glad.

They take a no soap bath and get things wet,
seldom ever picking up or mopping the floor.
While making us wonder what’s to come yet
if we happen to look behind the bathroom door.

They always love us no matter how much
we’ve said they are wrong or been bad.
Giving us a great big hug or wet kiss
when their own day has been long or sad.

They often fall asleep on the den floor
if front of a blank, meaningless TV screen.
Still lying there when we come in the door,
looking so innocent, peaceful and serene.

They are children born innocent and pure.
Trusting in us for all that they will need.
Hoping that our love will forever endure
and forgive them for every wrong deed.

I wrote this about 18 months ago....one of the poet’s here “discovered me” with this poem....
And my life has been changed ever since....I wrote this for all of our children....

Thank you my poet friend....you know who you are...

Once again an inspiration, innocence is not an age, but a state of heart...you know well.

Hello Barry

This was so beautiful and I could so easily relate to this as I have a 9 year old daughter named Elysa.  She is often as you have described.

Take care......Sue

Well, to whoever it was that sent you here, I would like to propose a toast..
Barry, this makes me think of my little granddaughers. It is all so true. And they sustain me when all else fails, with their little darling ways, and sweet hugs.

This poem is a "TREASURE", and I can see why you were discovered.

Magnus darling boy girl this is utterly utterly brilliant. I thank you for your wonderful writing and thank whoever discovered you. Here’s to them and to you.

I really do love this delightful and picturesque poem, it really painted the picture, something you excel at doing. As I’ve always said YOU are one talented writer.

Absolutely fabulous writing

To all of you>>>

Life is kinda tight on time right now...
I want each of you to know that I deeply
appreciate your responses...and I would
comment to all of you...if my days were
just a little longer and less full right
now...

Thank you each...very much....
