the aftermath brought a storm

across the swollen valley evening was heavy
on weary shoulders I felt the engine rumble the
ground from out under on the four lane just up
ahead when I was caught up dreaming of
the light in your eyes and how it still
makes me warm but like a rain
in the desert my heart was
a dry ocean without a
spirit wondering
where it went
and no current
to carry away my
senses that were parched
the night seemed long and I’m
sleepy which is a road traveled by many
I’m regrettably told and only remembered by you

when those flying fleeting moments in which you’ve never
known where you’ve gone & knowing little of what has been
but sure of one thing you’re awake yet within the dream and
wondering about the host that guided you in writing and
singing all my souls painted pictures & the many
times I was told it was just a fantasy or if

they’re somehow true the
thought brought me
to laughter but
then into
drying

tears that introduced me to emptiness when I
couldn’t remember when dreams were bright and others
dim many alone I’d like to think they helped me though what a
companion I have within mystique it sure opened up a space to
serenade the silent tranquil stars that should’ve been alarmed
and shining but I had to close my winter eyes memories
of leaving trembling skies on the wings where
lies icy waking landing cries I didn’t
know who I was or how I’d
come or what I did
and what
direction
from I think
though it was early/late
& another day/night coming/going
to a close/start I wish I could and I’m
sorry about something but I just
can’t remember

.

This was one of the most intriguing and interesting poems I have read in a long time.  I loved the format, the content, and was right along with you in this one, as it held my attention the entire trip!  Great job on this, and hope to read more of yours.

(sigh) Wow, I just love the stream of consciousness you put into your words, sweet friend, your rambling thoughts had me feeling as though I was walking in the dry desert with you, just yearning for the wind to sweep you away to a meadow of hope and reckkoning! (big hugggssssss) This is marvelous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Dave, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
