UNTIL THE TUB IS EMPTY.....

Until the tub is empty............
We will clean up
the terrible human mess
you left behind.....
this time.

But do not count on
ANYONE
coming to say
GOODBYE
or to cry
when you die...

when you die...
and leave this planet
for good,
all that will be left of you
will be a nasty
aftertaste
on the lips of
humanity.

Until then,
we will continue
to clean up,
until the tub is empty,
and there is no trace
of you
left
behind.

Bernie, thanks.
Rosemary, yes. A good cleaning is warranted.

FYI, many of the NYC "cleanup" crew refer to "ground zero' (formerly known as the Trade Towers) as 'the tub'...hence the reference to cleaning the tub until it is empty. For six months, some of the same people have been going down there, day-in-day-out, and dealing with these unbelievable horrors....while I sit here writing what sometimes sneaks by as poetry.

Hi Kacy!

I certainly agree that we should clean up! But let us not forget that the clean up should also include cleaning up the things that we do out of greed and lust and hate and  intimidation and careless punishment of innocent peoples. In fact maybe our clean up should start there with a lot of love instead of belly aching from so much hate.
Perhaps we wouldn't need to kill so many people that hate us. Is it possible that they could be taught to love us? Just a thought.

Yes, we have to get to the roots of the problem. But the ones who take hate this far, to the realm of murder, often in the name of some sort of superior being...I honestly believe they are beyond hope, beyond the reaches of Love. But that isn't to say their children are not without hope, beyond love. Yes, we must continue to counter hate with love and understanding, and to correct the underlying injustices in this world that foster and encourage terrorism.

All tubs have a ring of scum that must be cleansed. Let God love them...and let's make sure the meeting takes place as soon as possible....

True. I've decided this time to leave the forgiveness part to a different, hopefully a higher and just power. I cannot forgive constant mindless senseless slaughter, no matter whose name the banner is unfurled under. Thanks for replying, Sir Balladeer.

Yes the tub gets cleaned and we are left to do the cleaning. But we also must defend ourselves. How stupid would we be not to. and let them take over? This great country of the USA No, I say we must defend ourselves. we can feel pity on them, for their sins, but we must not be made fools. Great write, I loved it.floria
