What Friends Do Best

You have done so much for me
in the short time I’ve known you.
Your words always dry my tears
and then have me laughing too.
I’ve looked at much through your eyes,
viewed devoid of rosy hue,
learned much of life and friendship
from all that you say and do.
You have given me the gift
of love, unconditional.
No strings, no rules, no judgements,
there to catch me if I fall.
Of all the things you’ve shown me,
all the teachings you impart,
the most precious thing I’ve seen
is my corner of your heart.

10th March 2002

For a wonderful friend who has taught me that loving myself is as important as being loved. I love you back.

You have a very smart friend, and your poem was a lovely tribute to her.

Magnus, I am very lucky to have this friend.

Nightshade, friends like this are worth the effort, aren't they?

Janet, it is not hard to be inspired by such a wonderful person. Oh and I think someone else deserves a 'reader of the year award'. I know I will always find your name after my poems

Sunnyone, I wanted to let him know that his efforts in our friendship are appreciated.

James, glad you liked what I had to say.

Mysteria, he is the smartest guy I know. He has me for a friend! LOL

Accordionmaid, so rare I am hanging on for all I'm worth.

Thank you all for your replies and the friendship you have shown to me over the last 2 1/2 years. I appreciate all of you.

I share Janet’s thoughts on the close; it’s a nice feeling to know you have a corner in someone’s heart. This is a wonderful expression of friendship Dee, remember friendship is a two way street so I’m sure your friend would share these feelings! You take care now!

Eddie, I'm glad you liked this one, it means a lot to me. Friends like that are rare and worth holding on to. If he shares even half my feelings for him I am a lucky girl indeed.

I am touched by what you say
About what I do for you
What a tribute you have lay
About the words I send you too
How should I best respond to this?
To acknowledge this accolade
Something to express such bliss
To show that love has been repaid
My love was freely given
My words were truly meant
My heart has always striven
To be there with no hidden intent
You have much more than a corner
And my pleasure I happily shout
That any gifts were always inside you
Could I have inspired some of them out!

Dee...

I really like this. I'm sorry I haven't replied to this earlier, but there just isn't enough hours in the day! Anyway, there are some people that are just so special that they deserve a whole poem to themselves!! I hope your friend appreciates it, and feels the same about you.

This is the best kind of love, that comes from within.

Thank you.

Bec, its ok I know uni has to come first. I'm just glad you could find a few minutes to read this.
And yes, he is a wonderful person and he does love and appreciate me.

Romeo, the best kind of love comes from a true friend. When everything else is falling down around you, they will always be there. Sheilding you from the debris and helping you pick up the peices afterwards. Thanks for dropping in.

You do your friendship proud and show it in the most lovely of ways.
That man is one lucky and smart man to have chosen you for a friend.  I can't think of anyone who deserves a friend as special as this more than you.  We should all be so lucky and I am sure he feels the same way.  Just love these archives don't you?  BTW......got your verse.....now my turn to stress on TWO things...the next verse...and WHICH darn notebook my first one is in.LOL.......can ya help a cowboy without a brain on this one? Mark, I, too, am lucky in having him as a friend. He's a good man and means a lot to me.
As for your verse, I don't have it on me but next time I am online I will mail it to you.
