Time Warp

time warp, time warp
whatcha gonna do

we’re in a time warp
my mind has turned to goo

spring is only days away
if one goes by our calendar

this is the northern hemisphere
I’m sure you would concur

yet, though it’s March the sixth
in the western states of the U.S.

March is far from passing
the springtime weather test

for giant flakes of quarter-size
are falling from the sky

they’re rapidly descending
to  half and inch too high

time warp, time warp
the birds thought it was spring

I wonder what the finches
are trying now to sing

and crocuses are likely cussing
as the shiver in the ground

and tulip leaves all coated
with the snow that’s coming down

aghast am I, aghast are they
so I will put this poem away, “Good-day!”

last week it was so warm
we were dancing in our shirts
and now today, we need a sleigh
and pants under our skirts

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Ditto here Virginia, it was raining, now it is snowing big flakes likes yesterday again in MARCH?  My flowers!  Who is running the weather channel anyway?  Cute poem this one, and you're so right, the poor birds are really confused, as I watch them in my feeders out the window beside my computer.

Thanks, Mysteria, for reading and commenting. I've another one down the page a little ways, "And Then it was Spring."

Now I'm going to go look for one of yours; I didn't see one on my quick scan a few minutes ago.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Nice, and so well put! It DOES seem like a time warp! Crazy weather.

I love ALL poems about snow! Thank you for your note on my poem - say - I didn't recognize you, but I've seen you at Aha, right? Thanks for saying hi!

we’re in a time warp

the way this was said in a matter-of-fact tone made me laugh out loud...

VAS, it's a delight to read you again..

HAHAHAHAHA  VAS You have said a mouth full...It was in the 60's for two days, my trees started to go into bud, and then wham, snow and cold bitter winds. Oh my, the poor trees and shrubs are so confused. I love this. floria

Thanks, all, and Rosemary, no, I've not been to Aha. Is it a poetry site? I've been coming here for quite a long time, but am a rare visitor the last 6 mos. or so.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
