I was all decked out for the nightclub
quite a few years ago
red jumpsuit, red heels and earrings
i sat listening to the music of The Police

my husband was busy talking football
at the other end of the table
think he forgot i was there
as the disco ball lit up the stage
we were sitting far from the dance floor
far from the limelight
a table at the end of a wall to wall bar

i was hid back in the corner
where i could hardly see
i could tell it was going to be a boring night
while i sipped my Chablis

until a John Travolta look alike
tapped me on the shoulder
he was even dressed in white
i thought why not..i came here to dance
not listen to football scores all night

so i got up and he followed me to the dance floor
it was uninterrupted music
i followed him like his shadow
but i knew it was time to go
when my husband tapped him on the shoulder
i thought this is the story of my life
even in my dreams, my husband is saying
"Is it ok if i dance with my wife?"

LOL, I loved this one, especially that ending. And who wouldn't want to dance with a John Travolta style dancer? You must have dazzled everyone all decked out in red. It's a good thing hubby finally saw the score!

Vicky!   I bet you put a 'kind of a hush all over the world' that night, huh?
Hey, at least he didn't pull out the:
"Take my wife...please" line, or you would have gone red-haired ballistic on
his football talkin' arse!  teasing of course....
being ignored while out on the night.....shamey shamey on him!
actually
being ignored at all....its sinful!  something i am an expert on....*smiles*
JkF

You pushed his button good for you! Whooo Hooo, way to get him to pay attention girl. Cute poem, and I remember those disco balls, how cool a time was that?
