Never more a little girl, than when I looked up to you
Singing to myself, and dreaming sunny gold and blue
Did I really see the shape and share of things to come
When I was never told, a gesture grand or cookie crumb

Never more a little girl, how could I say or give that up
Swinging in the breeze, to nibble of the tender buttercup
Did I really say what filled my heart with clear detail?
When did the sky grow dark, should I again exhale?

Never more a little girl, than when I cry into the night
Seeking someone warm within the cold that grips me tight
Did I really seem so easily mislead, when so carefully I asked?
When I allowed myself to pick the petals in the meadow grass

Yes there was so much in your poem, the feeling, the images, excellent work!

Well now, my sweet...
This is a delightful poetic treat.
Well written, with many things to think about in this one. I really like this:
" Never more a little girl, than when I cry into the night
Seeking someone warm within the cold that grips me tight"

This is a bittersweet beauty ...
read like melody...wonderful imagery and cadence.
well done Poetess Diamond
