Breathing Bees

Remember last year
when I said...

The morning glories
are at it again, love,
in their bold blue
they have considered the fence
and conquered it in a blink,
then to the rose bush,
blushing and shy
with thorns at point.

They slide their tendrils
across the porch and meander
across the deck in periwinkle splendor,
the bee squeezes out, humming high,
to look and see such dotted bliss
across the yards and up the telephone pole
across the wires where GTE sighs.

Remember, last spring,
they covered our private domain
and with what reverence I held them
for the memory they brought
of back yard and sipping sweet nectar,
this child so carefree
in delight at spring
where the weeds were tall and green
and the plum tree horse bloomed out.

Remember how, come fall we pulled
our spent backs on the withered remains
and swore them to be gone
with their voracious appetite for taking over
even conversation with tinted color
so true and vibrant that a day could not
see sky or stream to match
or eyes ever strong enough with pigment.

Well love, while walking only steps
from our front door,
I saw them moving
from the neighbor’s chain-link
and they were on there way to send
just a bloom or two our way
as a reminder that while we’re sleeping,
the movement through our dreams that lights
the dark sky with vivacious hue,
in morning’s glory will be nestled
beneath our windowsill breathing bees.

Your poetry wraps around me in colored splendor....
this one is written across my landscapers heart.

Awake again I can't pretend ... and I know I'm alone ...
And so close to the end of the feelings we've known.

*sighs*.......so lovely, Martie.  I agree, you do seem to always spin magic.  This makes me long for summer so badly....it seems like it'll never come up here in MN.  But anyway, gorgeous words, I loved every line of this one.

*Sitting here smiling and nodding.*
I have been here Martie, other years with this same magical vine that seemingly grows several feet as soon as you turn your back.  Up and over the neighbour's garage, twisting in and out of other plants...wandering up and down and inbetween.  But, what I would give to look outside right now and see one of it's blossoms peeking in my window.
Wonderful write dear friend.

Wow!  What a beautiful description of bees, Martie...it really hit the stinger on the head in lovely poetic style.

A few years ago, I pulled up a vine in my yard and inadvertantly disturbed a nest.  I got stung all over, from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet.
Now I have a condo...I don't do any more yard work. ((hugs))

Oh what a breathtaking poem on those beautiful morning glories that love to take over. Lovely as usual Martie, floria
