Who whispers beneath my window in the darkness?
Is it you planning my destruction of the soul
Or plotting thief I can’t prevent in my weakness.
Are you dividing things before the body’s cold?
Will you be disappointed I’ve no jewelry,
No large piles of cash or stash of glittering gold,
No fancy stereo and just a small TV,
Not even fashionable clothing to be sold.

Who wanders from my window into darkness
To plot and plan another’s post destruction,
Now looking for a wealthier one of weakness,
It seems that poverty is it’s own protection;
But having some real wealth is more than gaudy looks
For I have mankind’s great knowledge bound in old books.

Gloom

I'd like to borrow some of those books.
Well done.

So much food for thought here gloom. I have seen this done, people waiting for loved ones to die to get their hands on valuables. How sick a society we live in. I love the idea of your wonderful treasure book filled with your writings. NOW THAT IS REAL VALUE. That is what I would take had I a choice. nicely done. floria

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Aszard, this is so very sad, it too pains me to see people be so cruel and yearn to take the possessions after the death of a loved one rather than valuing the love and the memories! (big hugggssssss) This is so very sad and expressive, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Aszard, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Had they been literate, they would have realized their find...but in their [ill] of all, left behind peace of mind...

I read it twice...I enjoyed each...

This is the best you have ever written..and you have written many  wonderful poems...this one to me (especially the end) says truth.

This truly strikes a chord for me.  Things are just things, but the lessons we learn in life and the people we touch are our true wealth.

I love my rickety stuff!!  And all my books.
