I’m sorry
His idea of a free pass
Forgiveness
As if I owe him
As if when he says
The words
I am to forgive
Without a thought
To the feelings
He so carelessly
Crushed
To the part of my heart
He just stepped on
I’m sorry
Is not an automatic
Cure all
For the wrongs
Said
Done
To the heart of me
And should the shoe
Be on the other
Foot
God help me
But I’m sorry
Has never been enough
For him
Or his superior heart
Or first come feelings
That always seem to matter
More than
Mine…..

Susan,

I can relate very well to this one.  I tend to be the one offering apologies, often getting none in return, even though I wasn't the person at fault in the first place.  And you know, sometimes "sorry" just doesn't cut it!  A good write, my friend.  (((hugs)))

(big huggssssssss) Oh Susan, I couldn't agree with you more, it always pains me so much to see so many use the word sorry without any sensitivity or thought into it at all, without understanding the hurt another feels and talking it over with him or her! (kiss on cheek) This is a very powerful thought, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Susan, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Jen, Michael, and Noah, thank you just really angry right now, it's always the same, his "I'm sorry" is supposed to be this magic cure all
while mine is never good enough...I'm just upset...

Rant to your heart's content. Sorry is just a word. Actions always speak louder, and tell the truth more often.  Hugs and peace. You have a right to demand "the real thing."

Hey, SEA, when someone says to me "I'm sorry", I just say "Yes, you are" and walk away.

Rant on, SEA. Tell that man to stop doing things to feel sorry for. Doesn't he know how many of us are waiting...?

Susan,
See...I like it when you take a stand! There is a simple explanation. It is about ones focus. Those who mostly see themselves in the mirror seldom consider the perspective of others. Makes for moodiness and egg shells. You are the best! Hang in there.

I can't believe she rants...but I like it!

nobody should have the right to put their feelings before yours

sincere apologies deserve to be respected

AND.... as i always say....

...the most you can ever expect is a sincere apology and some decent poetry......

thank you Hoot!!

Hey Doreen, yes, when it is felt and I know he meant it, then I always accept it....it's when it's said flippant, and coldly, with the expectation of acceptance, that is when I won't accept it.

Oh wow Sue, I have lived every last word of this poem and know exactly where you’re coming from. This sounds exactly like my ex husband. I’m finally separated from him, but it cost me a lot. Once I get over my anger from all he’s taken from me, I’m going to have a good life again. Right now, my blood is boiling too much to even write about it.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
