she's prone to hallucinations,
giving herself fancy names
such as Princess of Quite A Lot,
Queen of Everything
and insisting that she is born with a crown--
it just got stuck in her mother's womb.

a walking bundle of contradictions

yet she's not the scatterbrain
you might condescendingly dismiss her to be.
an environmental activist,
she's fiercely devoted to enjoying nature.

i lost my romantic self forever
(life has a way of dragging us along)
til i read her keen observations
about nature which
reminded me fondly of
the days i started out
as a reader,alive only
in my world of Enid Blyton
and her gorgeous farm stories,
knowing that such bliss
would someday be mine.

she's fighting cancer

Like the chipmunk who
darts skillfully away
from the clutches of the
big bad wolf,

she will prevail

and i dream again
of the day where i awake
in the loving embrace of nature.

dear lyra, i hope you don't feel that i am exploiting your situation in order to gather replies...please accept this musing in good faith, as i have meant it in all sincerity...

dedicated to larry too, for it was his poem that made me get rid of my procrastinating nature(for a while) and make me want to do something this meaningful..give that man a BUMP!

faterider,
I don't know what happened to this thread. I responded on it earlier today. Oh well. I love how this poem reflects Lyra's work. I know it well as do you. How wonderful. And thank you for your kind words for me. As you state well...this is not about us but rather our concern for Lyra and the hope that we might encourage her. Peace to you Lyra.

Lyra will never be dismissed as a scatterbrain or dismissed at all. This is a fine thing you have done...as has Larry. She is well deserving

Larry,

this was probably my fault..i posted this thread first, commented on it myself and saw it plummet to the very last page of the forums....wanting lyra to read this, i posted this musing again, which was the one which you had replied to earlier today...

hope i have cleared up the confusion...

apologises to you and Nancy for taking the time to respond to this twice and thanks to Balladeer for his response

painting a vivid picture
forgetting to thank the Munkster
would make me livid!
So thank you to you both,
and GodBless your journey back to health,

BRAVO!!! Oh my gosh, I too commented to this the first time around and somehow my signature disappeared too, but this is such a wonderful dedication to a beautiful friend like you and so I'll repeat what I said!

YAY!!! Yes, yes, she will prevail, for she is a true angel to us all and she always sings with the beauty of true love! (big hugggsssssss) We all love you so much, sweet friend, may we all join in your prayers for our dearest friend Lyra! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Heng, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Faterider...thank you for this.  I am absolutely thrilled that at your thoughtfulness, but I must tell you that I don't have hallucinations......at least no more hallucinations than other poets.  Actually for poets, I think hallucinations come with the territory, otherwise we wouldn't be able to think of all of these wonderful poems that we post here.

Faterider.....thank you for your thoughtfulness in posting this lovely poem, which describes me so well.....except that I am not a scatterbrain...but I forgive you for that because you never met me.

I also want to thank everyone who replied to this poem.
Larry, Michael, Nancy, Floria, ShadowRider, Karilea and Noah.
thank you all for your thoughtfulness and your prayers during this difficult time.

I feel like President Bush...giving a speech during wartime.

Seriously, it is a wonderful feeling to know that I have so many thoughtful and caring friends here.
I cannot promise to get better, but one thing I can promise is that this chipmunk will not give up without one VERY BIG fight.

And when things get difficult, I will remember all of you and your kind words.

Fight on Lyra,
we are all pulling for you.

faterider, very nice of you to do a poem for Lyra.

Lyra, I detect you have a very strong sense of faith and humor. Trust me, no better tools could you have taken into this war with you.  I have seen you use them both well, so they will serve you.  Shalom kiddo, take care and keep the faith.

The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives.
