Any pancake mix to pour on the griddle,
any note to accompany me on the fiddle?
My adventures began when I left home
for me, social graces were not the norm.

Wanted to work that ferry down the river
add to the batter a fish slice or sliver;
I would earn my keep and whitewash fences
around town that was like having the mences.

Had a good friend that helped me out of trouble
to quit jobs quick and leave town on the double;
from the corncobs we'd fashion our very own pipes
as country folk we picked fruit that was ripe.

My Aunt Polly who knew my stories, called me a liar
I would play hooky, get into fights and wouldn't tire
education in a classroom was a thing I detested
St Petersberg was the dusty town where my family rested.

(to be continued..maybe)

Sounds like my boyhood. I quit school at 16 got a job on the Mississippi as a galley boy and hiked across 27 states doing just about everything, working in logging camps, mining camps, doing dishes for meals, and hanging out in bars with some pretty tough characters and some wow ladies. Only an angel form God, or a band of them kept me safe.

I enjoyed your start and look forward to your continuation.

Well Newell,

You could probably put it all in a book then one of these days...I wouldn't mind helping you put it all in print

Hi Nancy,

Never too late, poems here scroll down fast, but you can always fish and find a treasure or two

(smiles) Awwwwwwwww, if I got here earlier, I would have said the same thing! (smiles) Yep yep yep, and he was the one who retrieved the treasure from Injun Joe and brought great pride to his town! (sigh) We all love you so much, sweet friend, you are so much fun! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martin, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Don't forget about ol' Huckleberry Finn, who we read about in English class a few months ago in Huckleberry Finn.
