Hush

In the time before
She leaned to shut the door
When all her feelings wore her thin
For she thought all fathers were the same
Torn pieces that would be cut again
Breathing seemed the only safe sound

He was the somber of the living room
she thought perhaps it was something
Something she did
Something she didn’t do
But to be safe
She roomed herself in a book
And only took to slamming the door
When her spirit broke

So she did nothing with her bellowing
Except that swallowing
Until she met the music
Then she stomped it on piano keys
In loud abandon
And a tickle of chaos
A dirge of truth that closed ears

For he knew not to tell her hush then

Yes... again you capture the feelings and the emotions wrapped in such experiences.

A different parent, a different defiance... similar safety net. *S* Too familiar to be "enjoyed"... *sad smile*... but very much appreciated. Well written!

Martie, what a beautiful language you are speaking. And, O, how thoughts can purify as they sing through the blending of music and poetry in sweet vapor. Thanks for teaching me new ways to sense and appreciate beautiful rays of truth. And now I will Hush!

*sigh* I know this feeling so well...I had no piano so I lost myself in books and fantasy..it is still the way I protect myself from hurt and even painful memories....Magnificent writing that touched the core of me...**big big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Ok.  I am never going to write again.  I'm throwing out my pens, pencils, paper, notes, pads, letters, books...

but not my computer, and not my link to Passions, and I am not throwing away my friendship with you...

because I would read more like this!

(smiles) Awwwwwww, this is sooooooo beautifully touching, sweet friend, I too love to play the piano so much and when I have a feeling of sorrow in my mind, I always like to key the melody of my emotions because I feel it matches the somber sound of the keys! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend, your words always sing with sweet music! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Yes, please give us more of these!

marite - this is why i like so many of your poems... you take a "simple" idea and spin it around until it resembles something unique, yet still wholly identifiable. it's that shared understanding which makes for good poetry.

Martie.....sigh...for all of it. But the last line, such power....which, of course, it was, and poetry.  Well done. Bob

Martie your words make the music girl. You don't need a piano and I would never say to you. "Hush" I would say, " Speak On" lovely. floria
