Full of Diamonds

She felt his look
from across the room
and turned.

His eyes moved
slowly,
she could feel them,
not cold like marbles
but more like feathers
bold and silken.

They touched her places
and she trembled and looked
at the flow of misty silk
stir against her legs
though she was still.

For that was how it felt,
his eyes,
speaking her name once,
though he said nothing,
then reaching out to touch
her hair
there, where it fell behind her ear,
he ran is fingers through until
each strand was on fire.

She looked once more
but he still sat at the piano
his fingers dancing across the keys
and now, his eyes were closed.

She shook her head
and looked at the crystal glass
she held
and saw it was full of diamonds.

The air was shimmering
and she took a breath of drowning
and sank her eyes into the red toenail
that peeked from her shoe
in wanton display of her feelings.

When she looked again
his back was turned and his laughter
fell across the nape of her neck
and collected all the tiny pieces
of her sensuality
and threw them like dice
across the hardwood floor,
and the song had ended.

If dear lady I dream in technicolor, you write in it. Wonderfully clear images and flow in this and an insight into the author perhaps...

(can you tell I enjoyed this?)

I remember this one well... and the fact that I still hum "killing me softly with his song" as I read is a compliment. *S* Your poem has the same power as the music... it draws the reader into another world so thoroughly the ending comes much too soon. *S*

By the way... the title could describe your poetry. *S*

Martie....Oh....PIFFLE. Bob   PS Just teasing. But you must admit that the remark serves to enhance my reputation for being "stuffy". PPS Like the red toenail. Shall we vote on that?

Martie....only YOU can paint a poetic picture
that puts your reader inside the poem...
experiencing all of it as you do...

Yes, very vivid and sensual.  I hope this isn't a real experience, as it is so well done.  Very good.
