They cleaned the fountain,
Taking the pennies and dimes,
Letting out water
It stood there empty and dry,
All the wishes now removed.

nice piece Gloom... tight and open ended enough in metaphor for the reader to draw as they would from it... Very enjoyable read..

Professor

The movie, Three Coins in a Fountain...I loved as a youth..but, sad to say, I see now that romance is more like your fountain most of the time.  Enjoyed this!

Taking the pennies and dimes,
Letting out water

May I add:

They took the coins,
Put in fresh clear water
To once more call the wishers
And spent the coins on needy people.

And made their wishes come true.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Aszard, this is so sad but beautiful, sweet friend, my heart goes out to you! (sigh) Always make a wish and hold it close to your heart, sweet friend, for if you hold onto each one, they will come true for you! (sigh) We all love you so much, sweet friend, you are a delight to us all! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Aszard, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Gloom - The taking or quelling of someones wishes, their hopes, is captured very well with this write.  Well done.
