Iambe was closing the hood
George’s old truck was idling smooth
And no longer dripped green ooze.

I handed her a cup of coffee
And she plopped down cross-legged
On the grass beside the drive
Staring into her cup.

Those blues turned to look at me
And no iceberg reflected chills
But the mornings sky softened.

“It’s going to be hot.”
I offered in small talk
Thinking about the gap in her overalls
And turning my feelings into
Something banal.

“Yeah.” She offered with a small twist of lip
that if she was angry would have meant
run quick…cause she’s about to pull something.

Instead, she rose to her feet, reached for my hand
And led me towards my old truck,
“lets drive” was all she said.

Couple of miles down the road
To Cooper’s Creek,
She slipped the overalls off
Then slid over to my side of the truck
And asked me if I was still warm.

(smiles) Mmmmmmmmmm...sounds like this is indeed going to be a delightful brunch with a slice of sweet canteloupe in the end! (sigh) We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is storytelling in its finest! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ron, thank you for sharing!
