Oil Painting..by..floria

My Oil Paints

I hear their voice call out,
We're here they shout!
Take us from our rest,
We have been so depressed.
I take them out and turn the cap,
you have had too long a nap.
They permeate my soul,
and I may lose control.
They're in my veins you see.
My oil paints are me.
I had set them away.
Too little hours in my day.
Come and get us we're still here.
Spread us out and you will see.
What we do when we are free.
How we love to slide around,
on your canvas so profound.
Let us help color your world
as your talents you unfurl.
I must go!
They're calling me,
Finally I'll set them free.
But the truth of it you see,
It is I that they set free.

I can almost hear my own paints yelling,
They’ve been long neglected,
Enjoyed your poem and perhaps I go get those paints.

Your paints aren't alone in their shouting... I'm yelling, screaming, and stomping my feet at the unfairness. *G* How did one person get such a lion's share of talent??? LOL

I enjoyed this very much... thanks to you and Kit both for sharing your gifts with us.

HAHAHAHA Suthern that is so funny, many have talents that are buried and they just have not found them because they do not experiment. That is the secret. Try. thanks much for the laugh. I could just see you standing there arms crossed in front of you stomping. LOL..floria

You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Floria, thank you for sharing!

I'm glad if you get back to your painting. I have been trying to talk my Mom into renewing her painting, she so loved it, and gave it up for years.
I may have to show her this poem

Hello Floria

Whether you are using your brush or your pen, your loving heart shines on any canvas.  This was beautifully penned.  Can you tell me, are they silver birch trees on the right of the painting?

Take care.....Sue

Sue thank you much for your kind words always...and yes, birch but I am not sure if they are silver, I do think the silver ones are white even under the peeling bark.I think. . floria

Oh Floria ... you have captured this so perfectly!!! What a wonderful poem!  You've given these paints a clear voice, and now, if you don't mind ... I'd love to print this out, and place it somewhere prominent, so I can make sure that I listen this time, lol. It's been far too long, and my poor little tubes of paint are likely dried out! Your picture above is superb ... glowing with warmth and character .... that in itself, is inspiration for me pull out the canvas.

Thank you sooooooo much for writing this ... it's a treasure to me!

Best wishes and big hugs,
/Kit

I envy your ability to paint not only with your precious oils, but with your words as well! My talents lay in my klutziness, which I cling to for sometimes if I didn't have my bruises and bumps, I would have no color at all!  LOL...

Seriously, Floria, you are among some of the poets here that are versatile in both worlds...and that makes you just that much more precious to the rest of us!

Now do me a poem of fingerpaints...because I see that one behind the twinkle in your eye...

Kit thank you, and yes by all means print it out. I hope you become inspired enough to start painting again. The problem with oils is that it is so very time consuming. If I dont have an entire day to spend on it, then I dont even try, And you have to be able to leave it out except for cleaning the brushes and my grandchild would get into it. I need a room with a lock on the door. LOL....let me know if you get back into it. floria

Beautiful painting and beautiful poem, Floria.
I agree with you about them setting you free.

Recently I bought some paint and some canvas, but I've been so busy writing poetry and posting it that they are still sitting in the closet in their bag.
One of these days, I will take them out and let them set me free just as you have.

Beautifully written with lots of wisdom ((hugs))
