Words

words are
what I am
behind flesh
and bone
without them
I am lost
they always
bring me home
so easily
written and spoken
they take me
and bring me to you
all it takes is
a whisper or ink
amazing what words
can do

"Pour yourself thick, when it is you, that you spread."

Yes, I pity those who cannot speak, but they do find a way to express themselves. Words are wonderful. nice poem 1 slick. floria

Hi Slick Lady--

This was a pleasant read for those of us who share your reverence for the written and the spoken word.  There is such power in words!  It's how we define ourselves.  Only you expressed all this and more so well!

Thank you for sharing.

Helen, this poem is so beautiful and yet, it is so simple and elequent. Ah! Words, the keys to all of our understanding and relationships. Just love 'em.

Now I donot write poetry as simply and eloquently as you do but I would like to answer your with a little poem. May I?

My little words.

I took a tiny word
One that I had heard
And built a little phrase
And then I was amazed.

For a couple made a sentence
So I waved my wordy pennants
And put together a paragraph
With just lean thoughts, no chaff.

And a page I weaved just like a quilt
A section, chapter, book I built
And then I made a whole library
And taught the world to love and carry,

My little words.

I love your poem, Hellen. And I love you, too.

((Helen))
