Covered mouths do not easily speak
open your eyes to see what to meet,
discover the chances you have to live
hear and see what there is to give.

value knowledge kept in your headspace
that keeps you alert and quick to pace;
apply that where mouths can open, people can feed
when ears are peeled and sights can be seen.

But we look at our neighbours and continue to compare
glare out of windows if sights attract stares
gossip is served with portions of envy
malice is born when the mouth speaks plenty.

vision three carved monkeys on a shrine
who represented common truths at the time;
let there be a place where you are free of disgust
believe these three are your custodians of trust.

Maureen,

I don't know about thanking you for the envy, but you can also just write on something other than matters of the heart
poetry is made of words and words can be linked and re-linked!

Hi Noah,

your tastes will broaden in time, everything we do and see can be described, just think of that for starters
