Request made to Morpheus

I want you so, oh Morpheus, to come to me tonight
I need peace and quiet, and a silent, non-dream flight
into a warm, calming place of beautiful, serene abode,
take me please oh Morpheus, till morning do me hold.

I beseech thee, sweet Morpheus, to hold my dreams away,
for they’ve left me so uneasy, held me in darkness’ sway
between the dreaming and reality every single night,
oh I beg of you, dear Morpheus, take away all dreams in sight.

I desire tonight, oh Morpheus, some blessed hours of peace,
hold me soft, hold me warm, I beg on bended knees,
for I’ve said my prayers, oh please, and for now I yearn
for blessed release from my dreams, oh please do turn

My night of repose into one of quiet, not to toss or turn about,
so in the morning I’ll wake well, not feel as if I’d shout
to heaven to hear oh how, my nerves have been so frayed
oh Morpheus, you’ll never know, just how to you I’ve prayed.

So hear me now, hear me true, know I’m facing fact
if I don’t sleep sound tonight, heaven knows how I’ll act;
for there’ve been signs that I’ll know not what it is to do,
except, sweet Morpheus, if not I sleep, I’ll come after you.

KJ...this is a very interesting poem...
Who is Morpheus.....

Very intriguing and seems to be a prob. with
sleeping....Need a lullabye....Don't ask me
to sing it...OK? Even though I don't sing too
badly....

Karilea, you never cease to amaze me!
What an incredible piece you have offered up for us to enjoy tonight!
And enjoy I did..as I know many others will also.
Thank you for this treasure!

Ironically, Magnus, Morpheus is the god of dreams, and is the son of the god of sleep.  In this poem, the request is to have Morpheus keep the dreams away...and therein lies the irony...

and as you can see, it is one of the first poems I ever brought to Passions...

You snuck in on my Nancy...thank you for being such a constant reader...you do my heart good!

*sigh* I love to dream...I am very blessed not to have nightmares...I think that has something to do with the fact that long ago I taught myself how to make my own dreams so when I go to sleep I am dreaming what I choose and I wake up wrapped within the same dream....This poem is absolutely stunning...Your talent shines in your request to Morpheus.... **big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Yanno, I read your poems and am so amazed at them I convince myself that your talent has grown immensely through the years I've been priviledged to read your work. And then you bring back an oldie to remind me the talent was there all along... and the amazement grows greater. *S* This is beautiful... I especially love the ending. *S*

Sunshine, You answered my question in Magnus's reply, so that is the queen of dreams. Well I love to dream, I mostly have good dreams, and I wish the same for you. And yes, this is a lovely most interesting poem. floria
