Root Canal

A root canal on my tooth
reveals my screaming anguish, in truth
I don't understand the rationale
but know it will shatter my morale

with your hand in my mouth, I can't chatter
I cannot tell you whats the matter
as I hear the obnoxious whir of your drill
I wonder if it gives you a perverse kind of thrill

please have compassion for my plight
as I sit here chilled with fright
bracing my fears with all of my might
be careful though...or I will bite

this seems so insane, it makes no sense this way
you inflict me with pain, yet its you, I must pay

some of the best chucklers....And yes,  we

ridiculous....???

Lyra darling girl I utterly utterly love this one, an absolutely excellent poem from you. I agree with you does anyone like the dentist? They really are some kind of perverse souls, they ask you to pay to be filled with pain. I have a dentist story I must tell you sometime, and yes it could probably only happen to me.

Wonderful writing truly wonderful

Dear Lyra,
Loved it.   I always wonder why I should have to pay the dentist to hurt me. You did this very well.

I think the more pain they inflict the less we should have to pay!  Tis only fair!
Good write Lyra...thanks for the chuckles.

SR...I hope you are feeling better.  I wrote this one about a year ago when I had a root canal...I actually wrote it as a joke for my dentist who has a very good sense of humor.
He now has it posted on a bulletin board in his waiting room.
thanks for your reply

Noah...good luck on your wisdom teeth.  I remember going through that, many many years ago and its not as bad as you think its going to be, so try not to be scared.

Barry and Newell...How kind of you to laugh at my pain...Men...sheesh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marsha...thanks so much.  Now you have to write a poem about your dentist story.  I will be on the lookout for it.

Titia...I think that in English,  dentist is just another word for sadist.
thanks for reading and replying

Floria...I hope you are feeling better.  I wrote this one about a year ago after I had a root canal done.  It was a joke poem for my dentist...he really is very sweet and has a great sense of humor.  He posted it on the bulletin board in his waiting room.

Sy...thanks for replying.  I'm glad that you enjoyed my pain LOL

Nan...You are right.  It doesn't make sense...but I have learned that it isn't near as bad as chemo...where I am paying someone to poison me.

Interloper...thanks for your reply.  I hadn't thought about it before, but that is quite a dichotomy.  Paying someone to cause us pain is a real oxymoron.

Victoria...thanks for replying. My dentist is really very nice and has a very gentle hand.  I wrote this just to tease him because he also has a wonderful sense of humor....now if only he could also be really really good looking, he would have all of my requirements for a dentist.

Skyfire and Peaches...thanks very much.  The way to conquer your fear of dentists is to sit in the chair and pretend that he is naked and wearing a stupid looking party hat on his head.

Maureen...I really think of it the other way around.  I think that our pain is usually the payment for something else, but I have no idea what we are paying for with our pain...I wish I did.  Maybe we're lucky that we don't have to pay interest also.

Juanita...It doesn't hurt anymore. I wrote it last year.  Right now, I would trade my present situation for that root canal.
((hugs))

Suthern:  Thanks for your reply, but please don't let my poem keep you away from the dentist.  Maybe you should look for a really cute one, so you wouldn't mind going.

Thanks for the laugh, Lyra dear...i'm too scared to even think of the dentist, but the your idea of imagining him with the party hat might help a bit, i guess...anyway, thanks again & take care, dear lady...

Amigo...thanks so much for your reply...
I hope you lose your fear of the dentist.
Maybe you should buy him a party hat and suggest that he/she wear it.  A funny mask might work also.
good luck.
