Darkness, come envelope me
find shadows loving embrace,
Seek solitary respite from
the furious, frantic race.
Give me my pen and paper
open the gate to my soul
Allow me to find within;
the words to make me whole.
Shielded from the critic’s sun
in the creative cave I made
drawing into the shelter here
pulling down society’s shade.
Pause here and bless the gods
who’s gift I’m allowed to employ
pray that when my life is done
they will find I’ve given them joy.

If the gods who gift aren't pleased with your offerings, they'll pitch a tantrum at mine. *G* I like this very much, PDV. *S*

Know the feeling well,
You expressed it well,
I often open my dark soul onto paper also,
It’s a nice way to release it
It’s a nice way to share it.

I think you have beautifully captured the essence of a poet here, PDV.
I know I always carry a pen and a notebook with me wherever I go.  I would feel lost without it.

Thank you all. Your kind replies mean so much to me as I struggle in this 'blocked' state. Sigh.

Nothing blocked about this poem....I hope we
all have that privilege in our lifetime...
To make them pleased from what we write...

I've been blocked for the majority of the last few months....so I can definitely relate...I liked this though, it was very touching and beautiful...I can relate to your words as well.  I hope the words keep flowing for you, my friend.
