Was it something that I said?
Or something I might have done?
That would explain your absence
As I wonder where you've gone

We once would keep in contact
It seemed almost once a week
But my mailbox now stands empty
While answers to my questions
Are what I now seek

Just a simple goodbye
Was all that was required
But you left me hanging here
Alone in a friendship you had now tired

I opened up my heart to you
And you saw deep inside my soul
But now I feel empty and defeated
Inside my heart there is a hole

But you have made your own decision
And have decided not to stay
So I will just bow out gracefully
I will not stand in your way

Enjoyed your poem...   sometimes we do wonder where someone has gone without an explanation when it would be so simple to make a simple gesture to end the questioning.

Mind reading again? I can relate to this one all too well. I sure hope your missing email arrives soon. Maybe it's stuck in cyber space, with my missing email links?

What a sensitive and touching poem Sue, and all to often this is simply life.

The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives.

How well this fits any friendship when we wait on the other to make the first move.  Seems to me I owe a whole bunch of e-mails...

Suetang,
how true is this write. Sometimes friends are gone without a trace, without a goodbye and then they resurface without an explanation , without an excuse. It always leaves me wondering. I'm glad I'm not alone in this.

Sue,
It amazes me what an awesome poet you are! You put so much feeling into all your writes. And the rythm flows so nice. Don't ever go away.

your title caught my eye...i love ponderings about friendships...

i think it's amazing that no matter how often we face this sort of situation, our heart would still break whenever this dilemma resufaces...some days, i just want to give up and cry, "why bother?"

HUGS..

Oh I do sense a little (or much) hurt in this, and how can anyone leave your friendship Sue. This is a very "feeling" poem, I could feel your hurt. Nicely done, floria
