Dear Gram

Any love that's within me
you and Grandpa put there
you were more than Grandparents
you filled my life with care.

Now you both have gone away
and I'm at such a loss
How did all those special years
end with such a cruel cost.

I feel much more alone now
than I've ever before
It hurts so much to lose you
My Gram, who I adore.

Is it true you are there now?
It still seems so unreal
Are you dancing with Grandpa
in your favorite high heels?

Are you walking with Auntie
on the beaches of Maine,
eating salt water taffy?
Is it all just the same?

Are you again Charleston Queen
while the men beg to dance?
And your eyes only for Merle
he, your king of romance.

I do believe that the spring
in your two step is back
and no longer does age hurt
nothing more that you lack.

How I wish I could see you
as you used to be then
still I do know that someday
I will see you again.

I don't know how to live life
that does not include you
Gram I'm feeling so lonely
tell me what I should do...

Sandra, I know your pain, and I feel your sadness.  Make sure to give yourself the downtime that you need, and some quiet moments to reflect.  Time does heal, although our lives are never quite the same. You know that you are always in my prayers and I love ya!!!!  (((hugs)))..Beautiful poem, just beautiful!!!!~~~~Deb

catalinamoon,

This brought tears.. I remember when my great gramma passed.  It's so hard.. so painful, but she is with you everyday, offering her loving hand to guide you through.  You are in my thoughts Sandra.

Big hugs to you,
Tara

I know this feeling so very well Sandra, having lost just about everyone in my family except my sister.  We do go on...in time we find a way to cope and just knowing that you will see her again one day will bring you comfort.

Memories will always be with you tucked away in that special place in your heart.  We don't ever want you to forget them, just change your lifestyle to live without them close to you.  I often go into my bedroom and talk to a picture of my mother.  I know she is listening and it helps me to live without her.  She also helps me to make decisions.  Big soft hugs to you.

Moon, I remember when my Maw Maw died in 1980, shortly after her 80th birthday - I was crushed.  I, too, had lived with her.  I wrote a little something later that helped me come to terms (probably more the writing itself than the words) and I've never shared it, but I want to post from me to you. And keep writing about your loss Moon - the process of speaking to her helps immensely.

My heart to you...

Sandra
I have to be honest and tell you that because of the subject matter, I really didn't want to read this poem.  I lost both of my grandmothers within 6 months of one another and though that was now years ago, it still isn't something I can think much about.  If I had dealt with the loss the way you are here, perhaps I would have worked through it better by now.
You wrote a beautiful, loving tribute here...thank you.

Sandra, thanks for sharing so much beautiful love with us. It means a lot to me, personnally to feel this kind of love. Most of my family. my grand parents, mom, dad, aunts, uncles, many cousins and dear friends have gone on and are now waiting my ascension. I dearly look forward to rejoining them one of these days.

You are very special to me and I know that your family awaits you, too, for one big super celebration in the sky.

Sandra - I believe this too. So, if your Gram, and all of our loved ones that have passed over are fine - we must be strong and celebrate life as best we can until once more we are all together. hugs, Chris

I’m so sorry to hear about your Gram Sandra. It’s so hard to lose someone you’re close too. Although the pain does subside, you never really stop missing them. I’m sure she’s up there dancing with your Grandpa, and they’re both watching over you now. Hugs to you dear friend.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
