I read them again
The words penned over time
And saved in piles for no other reason
Than the fact I could not part
With them any more
Than I could part with the feelings
So tightly woven into the warp
Of each

Some no longer held vivid color
But were faded from over exposure
While others lingered in the weave
Of wanting

“How pathetic am I?”

Each one a string on the loom
with colors mottled into unpleasing patterns
Still I was reluctant to cut the ties
And unravel the threads.

I read them again,
Depositing first this one
Then that one into the scraps,
To be sewn together in patchwork

Later perhaps…
In preservation of tapestries mosaic colors

For now,
I read them again
Looking to wrap around me anything
Reminding me of warmth

I'd love this poem at any time... for it is excellent. *S* But I moved recently... and found myself trying to lighten the load by cleaning out my memory closets... without much success. *S* I like the patchwork idea immensely... however far in the future the project, these papers have purpose... Or so I can pretend. *S*

youre not "pathetic" ... youre a poet
I see we are both searching for the warm this morn *S*
Capt...I am quite pleased to see your "boss" realized there must be time for poetry ...
other wise we might have had to call the union in
your imagery always leaves an impress, as does the intent of your words...you wear them well poet sir

So it seems your saving grace was only saving face,
you thought he was wanting you...
but he was only wanting you to let him off the hook.

Cpat

Some things are woven so delicately into the fabric of who we are...even if we empty the box, the spirit remembers the pattern.

You write heart touching words.

Sometimes you can't part with the patchwork
of your life, C. Each piece and part makes
us who we are. Our emotions grow from each
encounter and learn so that the next one
may be more perfect. I can't part with any
memories, the bad slowly blend and soften
now until they will mesh with the good ones
and only leave me smiling. I look for that
day always. Thank you for a beautiful poem
today.

Not only a warm, beautifully done piece, but so, so true...even the garbage that should never see light of day again ends up "quilted in".  Loved this Cpat.
