I woke up to 10 inches of the most beautiful white puffy snow this morning.

Wintery Farewell

Winter is going out with a passion.
In a brilliant snow white fantasy fashion.
Everything's coated with billows of snow.
I stand in wonder gazing out my window.
Like an amazing lifelike fairy-tale.
Absolute beauty in every detail.
Snow covered trees stretch out their arms.
Showing us all their breath taking charms.
Rooftops with soft puffy snow as a cover.
Tiny birds hide under eaves as they hover.
The birdbath now looks like a huge ice cream cone.
It stands in the center of my yard all alone.
Snow drifts so high, they're over my head.
So happy am I,  that I got out of bed.
Winter, you'll always have a place in my heart.
We'll soon say farewell as we must part.
And welcome in spring with a bright new day.
But I shall never forget this wintery display.

I love the way it looks first thing in the morning after a big snow. It changes so quickly to muck and slush, sadly.
I don't mind saying farewell to winter, maybe spring will bring some cheer our way.

Ah, wish I could have brought the coffee and seen it with you...we don't get snow down here (maybe once every several years and it's not really "snow"). Its been pretty cold for here the last couple days...I mean, I actually put on a jacket today!

Wonderful write my friend..and pardon me for being a wee bit jealous.

This poem is so pretty, Floria...and you probably don't live very far away from me because you have described...so very well, the landscape outside of my house.

Hi Lyra, yes I am better thank you. Wasn't it the most heavenly site ever? I didn't spend much time on the poem, It could be polished up a lot. but I am leaving it as my first expression of looking out the window. Oh I could never live without this season. and I am in the great Illinois...floria

It sounds gorgeous. Loved the way you described it-I could see it in my mind. I've always hated the cold of winter, but the first look at snow enchants me. This is great.

Floria hi there, this is so very pretty, you’ve painted such a beautiful picture.

Luckily we’ve only had two snow falls this winter, and neither of those lay. I do like snow, but only on a Christmas card.

Really beautifully written

Yes, floria, snow is very beautiful. And a wonderful reminder of how God cleans the air with a magnificent paint brush. We don't get much snow in Florida, although just saw some snow/ice beauty in Oklahoma. And it, too, was gloriously painted. Although I must admit that this Florida thin skin of mine prefers to see the snow sitting by a warm fire looking out a window.

Your poem is beautiful, floria. You just keep getting better and better and better. And I sure do enjoy reading your poems.

Oh Thanks Newell, but this is the roughest one I have written, I woke up , looked out the window, said, awwwwwhhhhh. Wow, and grabbed my pencil. did not polish it up as I do others , came on pip and posted it. But I think you all got the message of this rough draft. thanks much for your "always" kindness. floria

It is certainly beautiful...and this poem
does justice to a white snowy picture...

I am still glad I live where it doesn't snow,
though just once in a while would be nice...

Floria - I too love having my morning coffee admiring the winter scene displayed in my backyard. A wonderland of "white icing" that the squirrels and birds scamper about on. I enjoyed reading this. Chris

Magnus thank you, Most men prefer the hotter climates because they are the snow removers. LOL my husband is always telling me he wants to go to a warm climate. I tell him to be sure to write. LOL. thanks. floria

Thanks Chris, nothing can compare can it? No summer day in my opinion with all the lovely flowers and trees that I adore, can compare to a pure white snowy day. thanks. floria
