I don't know if poetry is what I write
perhaps it's just my feelings put to words,
a calloboration of my emotions
when thoughts have been gently stirred.

Sometimes raging like a river
the words flowing in so fast,
as if born from a distant memory
words are conjured up from the past.

Other times words writ so sadly
as I slowy try to erase the tears,
I try to put it all down on paper
to help chase away the fears.

I don't write in perfect verse
nor do my words always rhyme,
I just put my thoughts on paper
it just happens all the time.

It is an emotional outlet~
a pouring from the heart
or sometimes it's just a story
each verse holds a different part.

So I'll continue to write my words
I'll not care if it's "perfect poetry"
cuz any way that it's perceieved
it's still an extension of me!

I couldn't agree more with the thoughts here. I strive to constantly be "better" and attempt to follow "the guidelines" but often times this can take away from actual intent of the work, or from my experience, change it completely. Nice work here!

exactly RS.  sometimes when we strive for form and meter....etc....we lose what we intend to say, so I just write it like I feel it often.  Thanks for stopping in.

Gentle Spirit that is the best way to write, I find that when you don't think too hard but let your soul rule you end up with the best poems. Anyone can get out a dictionary and construct lines. A true poet writes from the soul what they feel, You have done that here and this is a truly wonderful poem. floria

And this is exactly how it should be...Your
feelings are far more important that having
every I dotted and every T crossed....

Personally...I think it is perfect!!

yes Lauren, it is an extension from the heart in almost everything we write (less of course we're just writing that fun stuff.)
I know your words indeed come from your heart sweet sister of words.  Sometimes the words move through so easily, but DARN couldn't the titles be easier sometimes!!!  lol.  heart hugs to you L. (plz check your icq sweetie..)

yes Magnus.  As a "poet" I always wish to grow and learn.  I can't learn if I'm not taught, but some days I just feel like writing me for if the words are forced, they are just not me. As far as perfection goes, I don't feel that there is such a thing.  No one is perfect, but as my Daddy always said,if I'm meeting perfect, then I must be meeting my maker, for he alone is!  Thanks.

I feel the same way?. I would like to be a perfect poet, but I am happy as an imperfect one. And anyway, getting thoughts and feelings out where we can see and feel them better, to me is the purpose of writing.
Love this.

I do feel the same Sandra.  Poetry is an extension of our thoughts, and hearts.  Hugs.
