crossing boundaries

peace sits gently in wigwams
yesterday was once a treasured friend
clay-skinned men of the plains
danced for the sun
hunted to feed burgundy babies
and smoked to attain the Gods aerie

but the day came
when the Gods were slaughtered
eagle-soaring dreams were grounded
and arrows with steel points
were turned against themselves

the Council circle is smaller
the men: much fewer
the sadness: much deeper
tomorrow parched sand will bleed again
for now the hunt is not for food
but. . . for other men

ShadowRider,
I love it when you go native to bring back wisdom.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Kethry:  Now! Now! going Commando never entered my imagination.
History repeats itself under dark circumstances
and it begs to be transcribed
Thank you K, for staying awake and replying.  *smile*

I enjoyed this, the rise and demise of the Native American, well done.
