The Letter

(Today this letter arrived from you
It made me cry, and feel so blue....)

My dearest love, you began
(And from that point the tears just ran
Please forgive me you plead,)
For foolish things, that I shouldn't have said
And things I did, that I shouldn't have done

I hurt you I know, and now you are gone.
I made a lot of promises I never kept,
Told hundreds of lies, but for one except
It has from the beginning always been true--
That in my deepest heart, I really love you.

Morning sunrises don't seem so bright
Without you baby, my life's just not right.
I miss you with an aching so hollow
The tears flow so hard, I can barely swallow.
What did I do, what have I done? I am a fool!

To have driven you away, in heartache so cruel,
Moonlight holds no spellbound magic anymore
My ears still echo with the sound of that slamming door.
Why did I do it? Why couldn't I see?
That you truly meant the whole world to me?

Oh, I know it's over and useless now to try,
So all I can do is ask you to forgive this stupid guy.

I am so very sorry, Love always.....

(And anger surged, welling up and burst
As I tore it to pieces, quenching rage's thirst
Does one confession of a truth erase the myriad lies?
Can one letter NOW, dry my tear stained eyes?
In determined resolution, I penned this reply....)

Dear Stupid Guy,

NOW you see, NOW you care!
NOW you realize, NOW you dare!
To play upon my sore and tender heart
Hoping to repair what you carelessly tore apart!
It's far too late, the blazing sun has set at last
That moon will never rise from the past
What's done is done, there is nothing more
You'll never see me again, darken your door!
Tell your pain to a love that is new
See if she, in lustful passion can renew.
Your childish games of make believe
Though she too will one day grieve
Now is your turn to suffer inside
For anything I ever felt has surely died.
Good-bye, farewell, I'll love you never
What we once had is NOW gone forever!

If I whisper, will you listen?...
I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.

Thank you Sunshine, I did sign up a while ago, but haven't been around much to post or anything. I called it "The Letter" because it was the first one that triggered the flood of pain for the reply...thanks for the sweet welcome!

Kelly,
Welcome and I hope the vent helped you to get the anger out of your system...Oh you aren't angry? then excellent poetry. I felt it all.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Zinsser, thank you. This was taken from an actual conversation, but I penned it as a letter. Though the reply appears only here and was never sent. Glad you enjoyed it.

Kethry, no, not angry now, but still stinging from the failure. Thank you for the welcome!

Lia, thank you, and yes…it did come from the heart, only he never received the reply.

Seymour, thank you for taking the time to read, I appreciate the thoughtfulness!

Maureen, thank you so very much. I am glad you could relate to this and that the timing was so good for you! And thank you for the nice welcome! Glad to be here!

Nancy, thank you, I am working on several pieces still polishing them  up a bit. Thanks for the very nice Welcome banner!

Noah, I don’t expect any of those love letters anytime soon, besides would make my love very unhappy! ~hehehe~ This was a long time ago, so never fear, the tears are all gone! Thank you for your sweet reply and warm welcome.

Magnus, thank you and yes, I would like to read that poem sometime. This was true a long time ago, but time heals all wounds as I am sure you know. Thank you for the reply and the welcome!

I Liked this one very much, Welcome to Passions. This was very good. There was one time in my life that I really wished that I would have recieved a letter like the first one.. But My letter never came.. Today I am glad that it did not. Because I would not have had the strength to write the one you did. Maybe today.. But I can tell you that If you are strong enough to write that reply. You will heal soon. Love your self. And Sing your self. Because when you sing your own song, It sounds prettier than birds or harps.

Hugs

Jen
