A Pair of Hearts

I drew two hearts upon the window,
imperfect though they seemed to look,
a waitress smiled,
and then I knew
that hope can never be stood up.

A frosty window, surely, for the hearts to show; then the sun came out, and glimmered through...

beautiful Robert!  So good to see you've come home!
